U could always use the DOF preview button? Actually does the digicam's LCD reflect your settings? I mean if u were on full manual at f/2.8 1/30 sec and u up the shutter speed to 1/125, will the LCD become correspondingly darker? I have never used one of these in manual mode, so dun know.

dof preview only stops down your aperture. it will darken the view through the viewfinder (if you're not shooting wide open lah), but still doesn't take into account what your shutter speed is set at.

yah digicam lcd estimates how bright picture will look based on your settings, so even in manual mode, you can change shutter speed and aperture and it will try to show you what the scene will look like.

dun really need it but nice to have.
its better to preview the pix in the head.

nature macro shooters would love this.
Many times I have to 'agar-agar' where the camera will aim cos I can't move in any closer and the only way is to extend my hands out. The 8 pages of example on how to use the device covers quite a few of the positions that i adopt frequently. The screen is a great plus and can show where I'm shooting.

Another great use is when you want to do long exposures, this devices naturally acts as a vf cover, so you can compose your pic to your heart's content and activate the shutter. Instead of fumbling for the eye piece cover. A great tool to have if you can afford! Remember to post your reviews DCA!

Well some people love it and some dun.... same response on Photo.net and Dpreview. Mainly the macro shooters and some studio people...
