Need some post processing to bring out the colours. Try it with your other pics.

Dennis said:How do you all post process the IR photo to get it to become colour ??.
I don't use PS but I checked out what teerex did to mine but could not get the desired result. It always seems monochrome. Could not get the sky to be as blue. BTW what is channel swap ?. I checked PS ver 7 there is a Channel Mixer. Is that what you all use ?. :dunno:
teerex said:Channel mixer is used for Channel swap. What you do is swap the red and blue channels.
After you open your picture, do a Auto Level then :-
- Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Channel Mixer
- Click on "OK" when asked for new layer name
- Channel Mixer will open
- You should see Output Channel as 'RED', adjust the Red Channel Slider from 100% to 0%. Blue Channel Slider from 0% to 100%
- Then go up to Output Channel click on the arrow and select Blue as the output channel
- Adjust Red Channel Slider from 0% to 100%, then Blue Channel Slider from 100% to 0%
You will now see the sky to be blue and some colors in your picture. You can compare the before and after by clicking on the 'Preview' button in the Channel mixer window.
Satisfied with what you've got? Then go to Layers > Flatten Image. You can now save your picture as .jpg. If you do not Flatten Image and save it will save as .psd file.
Hope this helps you Dennis? BTW any confirmation from you to PandaOng about the meetup?
You're welcome.Pablo said:Hello,
Thanks so much for showing the IR ability of the 20D.
Looking forward to playing with it
Please no one get offended by my saying, "play".
Life is a playground. I am here to play and I take my playing seriously.

Have tried it on Ixus 400....still OrR OrR lei!!! :dunno:
IR photography is only possible in broad daylight, the sunnier the better. So try again tomorrow outdoors.PandaOng said:Hey, At least you can see something....Is it my 20D?? TomCat...Please advice....

I have never succeeded in doing IR photography indoors even with my Coolpix 950 nor have I ever seen any IR images taken indoors posted on the internet.kegler said:Yesterday's test shot at CP...hee... but indoor.... but somehow i feel quite different from the IR shots i see here....hmmm....wonder why

Looks no different from my nightshot mode....hmmm
It was taken at 30s, f/8.0, ISO 800. It was quite gloomy and not sunny at all. With full sun out, 20s would probably be sufficient for f/8.0 at ISO 800. I would suggest you try to take at ISO 400 first if possible because there is less noise. You would probably need 25 to 30s at f/8.0, ISO 400.PandaOng said:What is the exposure/setting for your singtel shot?? I read that at F8 ISO1600...sometime needs about 15" Shutter Speed. is it true??
wow..if based on normal sunny day, @ ISO 100, F8, 1/125.....that will be 15 stops away?? :dunno: :dunno:
heehee too anxious already. can't wait to try it out tomolo..
teerex said:Nice work Dennis, you've got the colours of the sky and clouds in.
Now you should learn not to shoot "blind" anymore. Get your focus and shoot with a tripod with smaller aperture to get a better DOF.
