Actually found out that when I use kit lens fitted with uv+R72, have some slight vignetting. Still ok, can crop away...

Hey ark19, you are a D70 user right? If so, Nikon Capture can settle the vignetting very well. :)

Definitely happens with filter stacking on the kit lens at rull wide open. But then it's slight. Either use NC as Adiemus mentioned or remove the UV when shooting IR.

If gonna post process, might as well run it through Nikon Capture first to settle the vignetting. This way, I run less risk of scratching the front element on my lens. ;)

Hi Adiemus, and Teerex,
Actually, no prob, just a slight vignette... definitely much better than my "super" vignette when using 52mm :bsmilie:

Actually also tried zooming when taking IR shots.
Realised that my zoom shots were blur, not because of the focusing but caused by handshake

Hi Vortex,

frankly we should threadsplit this... start new thread now!

never read huh?

http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=110436

We have partly determined that the cause of the recent slowdowns and disruptions in ClubSNAP may be caused by these two threads - Newbie Chit Chat and Sentosa Outing. We have been advised by the software developers that threads with more than 2000 posts be split to optimise performance and this thread (with more than 36K replies and 245K views for Sentosa Outing and more than 26K replies and 178K views for Newbie Chit Chat) has long surpassed the acceptable thresholds.

Actually 8400 for B&W seems OK but maybe not in colour.
The last time I tried it was not ideal. maybe should try again.
Also have not tried the ELP filter on the 8400, maybe it worked.
I am seriously thinking of a Hoya 77mm R72, feel so hendicap without my usual lens range for IR. :(

Hi guys,

It seems a shame to split up "Infrared Photography" thread across a few forums already

Don't we have quite a way before the size becomes a problem :dunno:

Though I agree that it would be a good idea to post IR pics in a photo galleries thread also
to make more aware of the IR possabilities.

But, which one ???
If you shoot a good Macro IR, I would like to see it and discuss how.
If you shoot an Action IR, I would most definately like to know about it.
If you shoot an Abstract IR, that would be an interesting tallent to share.

Here is where I come to see, learn, discuss IR with you all.

If it is sperad all over the place, won't it loose the focus this thread has :dunno:

Just my thoughts.

Cheers.

it doesnt really matter to me lah :bsmilie:

lets see what the others say.
or we can keep it in thread #2 or
maintain it in here until we get threatened :sweatsm:

there's no reason why you need to read pages 1-65 in order to post on page 66 (current page), yet if you do, you consume resources that slow that CS forums.

isn't it good manners then to move to a new thread when we cross a certain threshold? its not like you lose the information in the the old thread, its still there when you need it.

If we're to start a new thread, let's call it "Infrared Photography #2" and at the end of this thread put a link to the continuation thread.

What do you guys say?

Here are a few pics from today, 12/01/2005
