What time you going? How to contact you if I'm there? I check back on this thread tmr morning.

I'll be there in the morning if I wake up and see the sun.

Aiyoh. Shiok man! I've still gotta work half day!

I come in with a little suggestion: if you have a not very IR sensible digicam you may want to build your own filter by following these instructions, adapting them to make a Cokin-sized filter. Don't know how thick would those things be, but i'll discover soon as i ordered them few days ago.

http://www.amasci.com/amateur/irgoggl.html

This filter is pretty weak and even work on unaided eyes in sunny days. Already got my weldering glass to modify.

OK so can I point it out to your Mom or what can you bribe me with :bsmilie:
Mmm once you are hook to macro than look for me lah, I have a few accessories for macro lens to help you go 1 step further.
Hopefully I am not too preoccupied with the wide toy to test macro with the IR light. So many things so little time.

BTW no chance to try out the wide toy but sure is exicting.
Preliminary test shows that it really is very good.
Will try out over the weekend.

See here for my 2 test shots. I need to get a sturdier tripod first... anyways this is IR thread, won't OT too much :)

Max, have not tried 2 ELP filters... but weather so bad, no need to try :(
Maybe will try when weather improves.

Hi brainnolo,
do let us know of the results :)
Actually Dennis, Quekky and I had bought ELP filters from Edmund optics SG. Edmund Optics Longpass FIlters have a similar visible spectrum to R72 but after mounting it on D70, was able to see-thru the viewfinder. Still waiting for weather to clear up for testing it...

Woke up early to a rainy day.. then went back to sleep.... Another rainy day, but drought for IR shooters :o

Hi,

Are the ELP filters avaliable at their SG location, or must we order in advance?
Thinking of trying the filter as well.

Thanks,

Thanks,

You must order first, ours arrived within a week.
For local orders, $20 delivery charge applicable for <$400.
To see the SGD prices, goto http://www.edmundoptics.com/sg/
online catalog/optics/filters and diffusers/longpass/optical cast plastic
Prices will be reflected as SGD prices.
Goto online ordering and setup acc. Also call first to check lead time.

Suggest if you interested, do a MO to save on the delivery charge. But actually it's very cheap, for a 3" diameter filter, it's abt $43 inclu of delivery.
A R72 for 77mm will cost much more

Better yet, wait for next IR outing, Quekky has a 4" x 5" one while I have a 67mm (mounted onto filter ring) and an uncut 3" diameter one. Dennis has a 77mm mounted one. Can let you try first :)

They don't seem to have a 77mm mounted long pass filter. Unless, I'm looking in the wrong section. Are you guys buying the sheet or the mounted one?

Hi Adiemus, we bought the sheet type. Dennis bought the 3"dia one and superglued it to the filter ring.
I think it's possible to sandpaper it to the correct dia to fit into the ring and use the spring clip to hold it in place.

For me, I asked an optical shop to grind it down to fit a 67mm filter ring. Cost me $10.

Yes that is what I had done because I am lazy to sandpaper it down to size.
It is about 1-1.5mm bigger in dia hence can't fit in with the clip but can be pushed in via the filter thread side. It fits very nicely and what I have done is just put some glue to help it stay in place and voila a 77mm IR filter for $40 (save over $200). No need to do anything else ;p
