With the 1.5-1.6x multiplication factor of DSLRs, a 67mm filter would probably work on a 77mm lens without vignetting. Just get a adapter ring or combination of rings to fit the 67mm filter to a 77mm lens.

I am using a 58mm R72 on a 72mm EF 28-135 IS and did not encounter any vignetting problem so far.

Really?! That is good news! hurhur. My 12-24 becomes 18-36 on my D70. Prob thats why the 67mm thread R72 filter wouldn't cause any vignetting.

I would have to try it out on the spot to confirm though. But problem is can we do IR photography indoors? hurhur. I'm not so sure if the owners would allow us to bring the filter outside to test test. :blah:

Hey guys thanks for all your feedback on my IR shots.

Sometimes, I felt like going back to MONOChrome IR.. do you guys have the same feeling or still very shiok with the color IR??

Ark and Vortex, Is the r72-67mm for the D70 kit lens?? which shop selling at S$70?
Vortex, you getting the D70 from sitex ?? how much?

for me...i do not have the option of colour IR at all with the 8400.
at least with a D70 i have a choice.

dont think i'll be getting frm sitex as they wont take in my 8400.
the free cf cards are attractive...but because of the 8400...i have to get the d70 frm elsewhere. price is cheaper than sitex as its without the cards.

Hi IR Man,

I am eyeing on a Sony DSC f707, have you use it before? I am curious of what's the IR effect of your Sony f828? Can you describe, like use anyone of those shots anyone of us did that day. Does it have dreamy colours like the D70 or my Canon A80 ones?

Cheers
Max

Thanks ARk... :embrass: sorry, didn't see the address on the last posting.. my poor IR eyes. :bsmilie:
I am also tempted to get the 67mm R72..

Actually,
I edited the post after I saw ur post...
So ur IR eyes still ok ;)

I called Cathay to check abt the R72. They have to check, but if possible to order, must pay in advance. For Lords, they are going to order a few pieces.

Hi Max,

I didn't use the F707 b4, so can't tell you the diff. but in term of IR ( nightshot mode), sld be same. You'll need RM 90 in order to use with nightshot cos it will constantly over expose your pic by default, so R72 is too "light dense" comapre to RM 90. But you can use R72 in normal color mode and with WB preset, it turn out pink in colour for the picture, and you'll need to auto level or do some adjustment in PS.

In nightshot mode, you only can use P or auto mode, and it turns out in green color, so you need to convert to B&W (pity!) but it hell of sharp and solid compare to DSLR's pictures, furthermore you may hand held the cam (constant shutter at 1 / 30 sec and aperture from f 2 - F2.8 , sometime shutter may drop to 1 sec if light is not enough ). Main benefit of 828 ? Real time preview !

Hi Vortex,
so did you "divorce" the other Nikon?

Yesterday I went to Bedok reservoir enroute to my Sis place.
Did some improvising with a Hoya 52mm lens hood to mount my 52mm R72 onto D70 for a test shoot. Here are the results:

The rest are here
Vignetting caused by 52mm R72 filter...
D70 really suitable for taking IR, all shots handheld. But I felt like a blind man..

Comments? :)
