whatever... basically the service folks in the backroom seem to have a diff catalogue from the wisma guys. for $5 thats a reasonable price, unless there're cheaper 3rd party ones on the market.

back to the error 58 topic, my 5D no longer hangs but the first shot is dark.. sigh.. need to haul it in again.

Still hasn't sent in for service yet, so just have another "ERR" 2 days ago, time to send it in soon, but not free lately :( .

I found my LCD rather wonky the other day... first time I used the camera after it returned from hospital to fix the black frame issue... the LCD refused to light up when displaying the settings... it only lit up when it was in instant review, menu modes... but now seems ok... no opportunity to use until end of next week...

In case you don't mind Sony brand one, It is available for sale together with other accesories in Sony Wisma Atria.
IIRC, price is around $5.

uups i forget that minolta can use the sony one as well.. ;p I'm paiseh ...

$5 quite worth it.. hump finally got my pinhole.. :D

Got mine fixed about 5-6 months back IIRC. Still going strong (Touch wood). :)

just got it fixed over the weekend.. quick enough. the problem hasnt resurfaced.

the error 58 problem has gone away on my 5D and 7D. the dark first-shot problem seems to have gone away too... strange... hopefully its not an intermittent thing that'll come back one day.

fixed mine. hasn't shown any sign of returning so far.

Cannot remember when but it should before or just after my Cambodia trip in Dec 2006. No problems since I fixed it. Prolonged non-usage since Apr 2007 till May 2007... about 5 weeks never touch. No black frame. Then another 1 week between end May and mid June (just came back from Phuket) no black frame either.

Don't know if I should fix mine, cos it occurs randomly.

Just go get it fixed bro. It's free anyway.

i got it fixed that time but the problem still exist. i wonder if they did change anything

 That's funny. Thought that it should solve the error. Did you bring it back to them again?

how to tell? there's no tool for km.. apparently only service centre folks can check. hey, maybe they gave you a replaced unit -- did u tell them you were going away? :bsmilie:

thought when a shutter is replaced the shutter count should be back to zero?

Although it's called the shutter count, thot what really matters is actually the CCD usage, rather than the shutter? :dunno:

how to check the shutter count in 7d and 5d?

hmmm...i tot it can be reset using software w/o even replacing the shutters..its like flashing a handphone cmos on board..
