Sent in my 7D few wks ago. Now and then the few shot(s) gets 'jammed'. Is this the same problem?

Anyway, it was not a critical issue, but it bugs me now and then. The repair costs $164.80.

Takes about 4 days or so for the repair. Now that my 7D is working fine, I'm trying to sell of my 5D. My 5D doesn't have this problem though.

Did they stated in your bill what was changed or repaired ?

They changed the shutter assembly.

mine too, they even gave me back the old one? what am i supposed to do with it ;)
anyway, does it solve the problem completely?

To fix Error 58, one of the AF gear part has to be changed. For both your case, it may be for different error. No idea at all. :dunno:

my 7D started having this problem only recently after i sent it for servicing (to fix something else - loose wire). but the problem doesn't show up if i use it everyday, same as my 5D. i'm wondering if it was a good thing to send it in to the sony service centre... solved one minor problem created a major one. sometimes needs to be powered off/on several times. the last few times it occurred i played around with various things, taking out CF card, zooming out/ in, focussing far and near, but the one thing that seemed to jack it back into action was dismounting the lens while it was ON.

my 5d started having this problem after the first time i cleaned the CCD. i wonder if its purely mechnical (i.e. AF assembly) or some short-circuited electronics?

Good time to get it changed within warranty!
Just curious, anyone else have the shutter and part changed and still having the same problem?

mine got changed already.. but still afraid it will happen again.. and pay again.. :(:(:(
