Increasing upload size photos to 600kb

hi administas and mods,

is it possible to increase the upload size photos in gallery to 600kb from 400kb?

one reason is it is alot more convenient to downsize the photo in photoshop using image option and saving as low quality.

currently each member is given a quota so increasing the upload size of the photo to 600kb will not affect the server space.

if the member runs out of space they will just need to perform file management by deleting photos.

well, in statistics point of view, you're increasing additional 50% of load per page/pic view if they decide to do a full view.

I'm not sure CS's gallery uses GD/GD2 or Imagemagick to convert uploaded images to thumbnails and etc, does it only create thumbnails or does it resize the uploaded image is unknown. But increasing your upload file size does not necessary prove competency /compliance on overall image standardization. It'll in fact take up much more time to convert/create thumbnails and might decrease the quality of the image as most of the time, images uploaded will suffer if its saved as adobe or higher range gamut/color space, which sRGB will be more than sufficient.

I'd rather suggest that you use "save for web" settings instead.
