Generally I will use somewhere around 1/10sec at f4 ISO 1600 to begin with.. then bracket.

To achieve the optimal sharpness for the two shots, i used the 2sec timer with mirror-up.
Used ambient lighting.

I always find that the older f4 version lenses are pretty sharp, it is much convenient to use as compare to the 100mm f2.8 macro, because of the zoom.
