Yes it is normal especially if you are trying to focus at a distance closer than 0.3m ;)

just give the lens a turn, it will work again.. seem to be a common problem..... if it bother you, send to SC to have it check....

Just wondering if anyone here has tried the nikon version of this lens and how does it compare to the sigma version?

The SIGMA is better and far sharper than the Nikon, Canon and Zeiss. The Sigma is up there with medium format lenses!

Case closed ---- :)

( if you NEEEEEED weather sealed feel free to spend $ another $1000 and get the Nikon or Canon. )
( Zeiss is manual focus only. )

Hint : google..... so much already tested in both lab and in the field.

Apparently this lens seems to be sold out... Managed to grab one of two last copies at one of the major retailers here...

The 35mm was the first Sigma on a Nikon for me, quite impressive. Bokeh is especially pleasant.

Really loving this lens on my D700. Some of the photos taken ...

Yup.. At times I still take my eyes off the viewfinder to check if the lens is really Sigma brand.. Especially after the QC and "Sigma Jaundice" issues they used to have...

And i wonder, "what happened to Sigma..?" Why couldn't they make lenses like this earlier..?

Come on lah. Sigma wasn't complete trash before the release of the 35mm f/1.4.

My first Sigma was the 10-20mm f/4-f/5.6. It was quite perfect on my little D70 back in early 2006. Back then, I also had the fortune to try the 17-70mm f/2.8 - f/4 and the Sigma 70-300mm f/4 - f/5.6. All were quite good for their price.

Just got mine today at SLR Revolution at $1065 nett (cash/nets only) which was the last piece :D
