wow! so, i'm not the only unlucky dude in singapore?!! i only shot 300+ shots when mine died. what were the lenses you have tried? there are comments on other sites that reported problems with VR lenses.

so, have you go to NSC yet? 300+ shot only... Ask them for 1-1 replacement...

I don't have any VR lens, just a 50mm f1.8 (Nikon) and a 17-50 f2.8 (Tamron) that I had mounted.

hmm... mine died when i was using the 50mm f/1.8 AF-D. what about you? if it was the lens that triggered the d300's death...

At the point it die, i was using 17-50 f2.8 (Tamron). And I mount the my SB800 and grip on it too... The SB800 was in working condition, as I had been using it on my D70. So still don't know what caused the death!...

don't NSC repair for you ? :thumbsd:

Guys, let's be rational here OK?

1 d300 down and we get things like Nikon's QC is bad, Made in THailand is bad, etc.

Come on, 1 out of how many?

No. ;(

Just ask me the smell the interior and said there is burning smell.

They offer 1 to 1 replacement for S$2460. The market rate now is only $2550.

Ask them what is the price to change the board, they just said not worth it and there might be other problem next time . So better not waste my time and their time. ;(

So angry but don't want to make a scene, just ask for a report.

Then they gave a letter stated that "it is badly damaged and beyond enconmical after a general check by our technican. Unfortunately we regret that we have to return the equipment to you without repair. We apologise for the inconvenience caused." :thumbsd:

I think the percentage is very low. Maybe me just very bad luck.
But the after-sale service must take care of it.

Hmm, to short circuit the board is something a user won't be able to temper with right? I personally feel this should be warrantied and a 1 to 1 exchange should be done. Sounds likes QC NG to me.

That right !!! is less than 1 month...... they should do 1 to 1 exchange.

This is DAM DAM lousy service :thumbsd:........but how it actually happen ?:dunno: strike by lighting ? or connect the usb connection to 3 pin plug ?

Hi, just wondering how come NSC didn't repair your cam... were you using 3rd party batteries that might have caused the short circuit?

As far as I know if your D300 is still under warranty, they will repair for you.If it is beyond repair, they have to do a 1-1 exchange. Unless the cam is dead due to owner fault.

The condition now is
1.) mirror is up
2.) Shutter can't be release
3.) Top LCD panel showing "ERR"
4.) Rear LCD not working
5.) Both the dial is working fine (to change whatever setting)

and.....NSC said got burning smell.....

btw, i didn't using 3rd party battery....

bring the case to news paper....is more powerful than internet forum

They just spent 5-10min for the general check and give me this verdict.

Will further update you guys when i call my agent tommorrow.

Thanks for the concern from you guys.

haha, ahlow bro, relax la. :)

Hmm, i don't feel this has anything to do with their service la. Guess it's the company policy or something. :dunno:

Given my little experience in electronic industry, the short circuiting could be due to a lot of reason. Like soldering not done properly on the board, bonding of adhesive NG and many other funny reasons.

Leong23 bro, i think you can try to negogiate with them. But calmly la. ;)

Did they say what cause your D300 board to short circuit?

If it is not due to owner mishanding, they have to repair & replace all parts for free cos it is still under warranty.
