I don't believe this!! My D300 just died!

that might be the problem of the battery box.
My first D300 was like this and i changed it for another one since it was within a week.

i bought mine on 26th Feb... which is like 1.5 weeks back. keeping my fingers crossed.

plan to call the shop & ask them about it first.... worst case, then only off to NSC :dunno:

btw... if you googled "d300 died" as the keywords, you will find others with similar problems in other parts of the world. mainly citing contact problems with lens/battery. some even mentioning the use of VR lenses.

so, those d300 owners out there, do keep an eye out on your investment to make sure it doesn't decide to turn itself into a lemon

wow d300 so much problem....tot of upgrading
now think better wait for a while :)

Err ... electronics all 'heng' or 'suay' 1. Hope mine's on the 'heng' part though. ;p

Did you guys updated the firmware? I haven't done so for mine..

Wah, so scary, I hope mine is okay.

Did you guys send warranty card? Mine is unchopped/unsent, the shop say dun send better...I don't see the logic.

Called the shop just now -- they referred me to check with Nikon :(. When I asked for a 1-to-1 exchange, they said they have limited stock, etc. & referred me to Nikon again. Guess I will have to visit NSC tomorrow then :dunno:

I think for this Fair HN should have no problem giving 1 to 1 exchange, they have so many stocks sitting in the collection booth.

Has briefly run through all the functions, so far so good.

Actually, I'm more worry to buy from shop. Very hard for them to have good stock level for exchange. Unless, the shop is as big as CP, where they can really stock up. I remembered when I bought my Canon IXUS at CP, my salesman checked and rejected 4 sets for bad pixel. And, still can bring back and change if find problem. Same for many years back for my Nikon FM2. Until I fully satisfied.

Latest update:
- Went to NSC in the morning, they also could not revive the D300 & they also had no idea what was wrong
- They were unable to do 1-2-1 exchange
- But I explained nicely that it was purchased less than 2 weeks back & asked if they could do anything to help
- The CSO left his desk & contacted the salesperson for the shop & came back telling me that the salesperson will discuss with the shop to arrange a replacement
- In the evening, I went to the shop & got a swap :)
- Now, I just hope it is not another lemon *fingers crossed*

So far, all is well for now. But, I think I have been extremely lucky in this instance. If it happened after 2 weeks, I'd probably will not be able to get a replacement.

Lucky u ... count your blessings.

Just curious on your 1st line ... if you cannot get 1-1 exchange, what'll NSC do? Forget it or try and get the D300 repaired? :)

yes, i was indeed

Wow, wonder to use "lucky" or "unlucky" for your case.

I don't usually play with the camera immediately after I bought it. Think I will have to "change" my habit.:sweat:

Hope this incident won't affect your faith in your performance using this camera.

All the best!!

I believe it was a 1 week, 1 to 1 exchange. But an exception was made in your case.

I think so too PE

Yup! They will attempt to repair it.

I know!! After this, I will wanna play more within the 1-week period!!

Just as well you bot a local warranty set ! Otherwise it could be a long and painful road to get things sorted :)

Wah luckily can change, if not would not have been a nice feeling to have spent dat amt and got a lemon.
Happy shooting :)

Well, mine die on the 3rd day of purchase. Same like TS it just sudden death!
And it is only after I had took about 200+ shots.
But very lucky that HN allow 1 to 1 exchange. And I can do it at any HN outlet that still is holding the stock. Don't need to go IT show again just for exchange.

 Oh no! Get a new one! ^^
