I know, having a serious and lowballer's price is not enough.. you need to gve serious buyer and lowballer's hp..

For serious buyers, give your own's hp; for lowballers, give CHEAPLAH's contact.. hahahaha

i saw someone doing that (yesterday night post).. as in buy, use for about a week, and sell at i think its either same price he bought or at little higher price. just look at his post mins ago and the lens already sold. will learn from him. LOL

Yo cupid,
Sjackal made the most reasonable comment for u to ponder. No need to get upset, & before making comments like 'low ballers' remember its a double edge sword- u maybe selling now, but in future u may look to BUY. Ah, by then, when the table is turned, would u want to buy a used product at high prices? Think about it. There's always market dynamics which explains why resale prices are the level it is. From my 3 decades of selling, I wouldn't put 'no low ballers pls' on my ad, bcos I am effectively losing at least 50% of potential buyers. I would welcome every single 'low baller' & pick the highest ones to negotiate. Hope my 3 cents helps- Fools learn from their own experience, wise men, others... I've been a fool for 3 decades, hope my experience can help others.

Jokes aside, having been on both sides of the table, i agree. If i find that the item is over-priced, I'll try to negotiate to a price i deem reasonable and fair but if seller has too high an esteem for his stuff, so be it. I look out for another deal while he wait for another buyer.

As a seller, i set a price that i deem is reasonable, but i have never and will never put terms like, "no lowballers please", "fixed", "non-negotiable". Some people just want a few or 10, 20% off your selling price. If i can agree to the price, why not? If it's too low, i either counter-offer, or i ignore (usually i ignore if it is 40% lower than my selling price). If no agreement can be reached, then we all move on. He look for another deal, while i wait for another offer.

Ultimately, it's still business negotiation at work..

We speak the same language. Best!

Actually i beg to differ, i think doing that nothing wrong ma.. in fact, I know some people buy liao use le around half a year sold their lens slightly higher..

cant be everytime, once the len got transacted, we have to sell at much lower price..

This is why I loved, 2nd hand stuff.. but this doesnt apply to gfs and wives.. :)

This is not really low balling, i would say as long as the price is reasonable, its okay

There are also low-sellers around. Bought a Streetwalker Pro recently.
Shop price 200.
BNS Price 140-150.
Low-seller price 100. Near mint condition hehe lucky me.

Anyone encounter high buyer before?

You got to be fast man for such deals.

The last time I saw someone selling 550D with kit lens for merely SGD400. The advertisement was only 5 min old and it was sold...

ignore low-ball lowers, no need to deal with them at all, of cos, sellers gotta state reasonable selling price too, and how reasonable is reasonable depend on: (1) availability of item (2) price of new item (3) time you are willing to hang around CS selling ya item.

I buy and sell on BnS here for most of my lenses and never encountered any unreasonable bargaining. The key to this is to make your posting as clear as possible on the following:

1. Price
2. Exact description of the lens
3. Age & Condition
4. Well taken photos of the lens to illustrate above. I find this very lacking in many of the posts at BnS, and unless it's a lens that I really want, I won't even bother to look at threads without photos, and I mean well taken photos of the lens at different angles. If you were to refer to Feng Wei's postings in the Pentax BnS section, he is always very meticulous and never left any stone unturn.
5. How you want to be contacted.
6. Meeting place.
For 5 & 6: Be very polite and firm in your language: I never use statement like "at my convenience". I will prefer to use "at a time and place convenient to both".

Whether one buys or sells, onus is on them to do all necessary research to make sure that the prices of the items meet the actual condition and within reasonable market price demands. I will stick very strictly to the above style regardless of whether I sell a $100 or $1000 item. The more you tell and show the less questions, especially on price.

How about this situation:

EF16-35 brand new local set at reputable shops selling for $2.3k+
1 year old out of warranty asking for $2k+
Brand new set at JB for S$1.9k+ with 2 year canon.my warranty.

Do one take into consideration of availability from acorss causeway?
Will offer of $1.7k deem low baller?

For me, won't make any offer. Just to hear your view.

Sometimes. I also encounter people who would bargain too much for my services offered.
I have quoted a very reasonable price but still insist for more discount. I feel really insulted so I would refer him to a repair shop that will make his day :bsmilie:
