How to be a model for photo shoot

Seriously to the TS,

consider doing some TFCD shoots to gather some experience first. Make sure you look for the more credible ones. Look at the portfolio and also check with other models if possible.

This kind of shoots will give you some idea as to how a shoot should go as well as get some ideas on the posing, how to work with the photographer, etc.

Once you have some experience under your belt, then you can look either for agencies to help you get jobs or look for them as freelance models.

in clubsnap, as long as you don't look like a man (and even then i think if you do you can try), you can be a model.

you just need to be able to smile, accept green tea graciously with a bow, and be willing to entertain many hungry photographers asking for your number, where you stay, and whether they can take you out for a spin tonight. :bsmilie:

Nightmarish advise indeed :bsmilie:

Actually quite true. Many new models, especially the "innocent XMM" type, will attract a lot of the... "less decent" shooters (I will not call them photographers). They need to be thick-skinned and know how to handle those types of guys.

Agree. Nowadays there are a lot of vunlerable and inexperienced young ladies aspiring
to be models and will be easily taken advantage of by these lecherous so call 'photogs'.
Well hopefully thru experience these young ladies would be able to over come them.

i seen a few cases of colorful wolfs.head on clash with a guy before, who mentioned abt him being a pro, wanna bring girls overseas to shoot that kind of rubbish. also remembered he mentioned cannot show portfolio cause of sensitive nature. i wont say cs is the worst possible place, but its still good to keep a look out for potential trouble. be smart, stay sharp. xmms tend to be cheatable. must take good care of urself.

One more thing.. when you go for shoot, try to stick to outdoors or public accessible places.

good advice!

perhaps it will be good to bring a fren along too...

actually the photographer should bring a fren too... but it won't be easy... ppl nowadays are so busy...

ok, here's some detailed constructive advice.

loads of girls i see entering the so-called modelling industry are not in it to be serious when it comes to modelling. there are 2 main traits here - the first includes a craving for quick money, hourly rate relatively high compared to what these girls can do outside of modelling. the second involves (sorry i couldn't put it any other way) a thirst for attention.

these 2 traits in combination can result in a lack of self-respect. this is what leads to all the scandals you see being trivialised in newspapers, girls stripping and regretting later on, girls placing themselves into compromising situations, or girls even agreeing to silly things that affect them negatively in the long run like sex for money.

i think the best advice anyone here will give you here is to think long and hard. is it easy money? maybe. are you really rendered more beautiful or desirable by becoming a model? i would really think not. just don't step into this messy arena thinking that you will reap nothing but benefits. at the end of the day, don't lose sight of the fact that this is an area where loads of predators hang out, in part because of previous examples being easy prey, in part because the current examples are also easy prey. you will have to be streetsmart to remain relatively unscathed.

predators don't just come in the form that will pressurize you to get into bed with them. there are those with honeyed tongues that will coax you into making decisions against your own thinking mind. as much as it will be your own fault, i think most girls would not just easily shed off their clothes for a photoshoot without such gentle prodding, especially in a conservative society like singapore. it takes two hands to clap. so stick to your guns, have a clear mind. just because the photographer is handsome, charming, whatever.. or he takes beautiful photographs of you, it doesn't mean that you owe him that much to take off your clothes if you are not comfortable with it.

of course, if you are entirely aware of the consequences, positive and negative - and there will always be negative connotations when people know that xxx has stripped in front of the camera before, like it or not.. and you are still comfortable then you have every right to do what you want. just make sure it is for the right reasons, and not because a handsome face with nice gentle honeyed tones and promises of a glamorous future is telling you that that is what he wants.

to minimize damage, suggest you do a thorough search on the background of photographer you engage before you step into participation with shooting with him. as much as some rumours are started by jealous rivals, there will not be smoke without any fire. you can easily do a search.

also, when you step into this industry, please don't think it is just about smiling, doing victory poses to succeed, if you are entirely serious. this will only work for a quick buck. in the long run, if you are serious you will need a lot more than just acting cute to be a famous face.
