A world of difference when comparing between the lemon/loaner/good copy's images.
I also say! So which image should a $1.6k lense be EXPECTED to produce?

That I can't say. But I can say that I won't be paying S$1600 just to get those sort of shots which are no better (maybe worst, in fact!) than what I can already get with my 40-150mm Zuiko.
Heck, maybe you can loan someone's 40-150mm and do a comparison between it and your lemon 50-200mm right in front of the Oly support technician so that there won't be any frivolous excuses and reasons anymore.
So lemon's back? Next time, bring the cam, 40-150 and laptop along. Shoot, if not happy, don't accept.

Loaner: 1/2000 f/4
Good copy: 1/2000 f/4
Loaner/Good Copy taken around 3.50pm, 22 January 2007.
The loaner is better than the lemon but still exhibit slight ghosting and softness.
..The service tech insists its a 'good' loaner that has never been repaired. I really wonder how the fingerprints and dust made it INSIDE the lense--they're scattered on almost every lense surface, giving it a 3D asteroid field appearance.
Apparently there is still no answer to the thread.
I have a few Oly lenses that need to be cleaned. Where do I bring them, beside Oly's agent and how much will it cost me per piece ?
Info much appreciated
...It happened in Australia. I think the lens was still under warranty. He sent it in for serving thinking it might cost a bomb. In the end, when Oly Australia reviewed his case, he got a 50-200 replacement (can't recall if it was a new lens, it should be). And the owner was totally thrilled. He was glad he bought into the 4/3 system. He openly praised Oly for this good-will extended to him. Unbelievable isn't it? What excellent service quality.
Perhaps, our local Oly Service Centre should send all their technicians for extensive training both in repairing (especially) Oly dSLR equipment as well as how to give excellent customer service to Oly camera owners.

My Olympus lens shows softness on left side of the picture compared to right and centre, Brought it down to the service centre but was brushed off as well. Doubt if I will be spending more on 4/3rds system. Will be considering Canon and Nikon system because follow up service is very important when working with expensive camera systems. Esp Canon, ecause I remember their great service when I was using their film cams.
Excuse me steve, but did you not read what btfiend wrote?? That was from the loaner he got from Oly. You sure you want to send it to Oly service??
