Sometimes too much info make you confuse, best is you go and buy yourself. (can enjoy and shoot with new lens at the same time)

Asking your friend buy, just direct him to 1 shop which you think is reliable. It is not easy to find out from net for availablity with best price, best is to call them up and reserved before you go there. :)

Hi,

Any1 know which reputable camera store in HK selling PocketWizard and for how much?

Appreciate any advise.

Although mine is a canon lens, Citicall seems to have the lowest price among Wing Shing, Man Shing and Tin Cheung in a lot of cases. Make sure you check with more than one Citicall shop if you are around Mongkok area. There seems to be 3-4 Citicall shops around and they are quite close together. Depends on the sales person, you might get different quotes from them as well.

Any particular Citicall to recommand?
Heard a lot abt them recently

The best store is the one that gives you the lowest price. Citicall stores' sales can give discounts within a certain range. Based on their daily/weekly/monthly sales volume, one of the store might quote you a better price.

If you can pay cash, ask for a final cash quote. You might be able to reduce the price slightly further.

Just got back from HK.

Got a whole load of Canon stuff. I find that the prices for all the shops (for Canon at least) are very close. The biggest difference is $80 HKD for the EF-100 macro. Which I end up paying since I can buy everything from 1 shop, Tin Cheung and I stay near the shop too.

I have check prices with all the major shops (Citicalls, MS, WS etc) too and they are all on par. TC seems to have the best price for Domke bags though.

I cannot speak cantonese so I find it hard to bargain....anyway they all say it's fixed price. TC charges a surcharge for CC.

Citicall gives very competitive rates for Canon stuff... a friend of mine was quoted HKD 8,150 for the 70-200 F4 IS (international warranty set), HKD 3,300 for the 580EX Mk2 (also international waranty set).

How much surcharge does Tin Cheung charge for CC?

I was wondering how i can bring a few K worth of SGD in HK... dangerous... :dunno:

Hi Bros, OT a bit, just wanna check how do you all carry the huge load of lens back? I will be going overseas soon too and would like to purchase some lens. I wonder if hand luggage will not be allowed if i bought too much.

You could consider getting a big camera bag to carry your lenses. Put the lenses in the camera bag, and as for the boxes, if you're a box keeper like me, compress them can put them in the check-in luggage.

Do keep your receipt separately as well. If Singapore customs ask you how come you have so many lenses from HK, just tell them your friend bought them for you as a present. ;p So they can't tax you. :bsmilie:

If the customs can figure that you need the receipts for your warranties and catch your lie, then for that, you got to hand it to them, and just lan lan pay your taxes.

But it shouldn't be a problem. I bought my Canon 100mm Macro and 70-200 from HK, didn't get checked by customs, so was heng.

Oh ya, how huge is your huge load? If its like 10 lenses, then you can just forget about my advice. :bsmilie:

if for own use, throw away the box and receipts and use them by putting in your camera bag.

You can always keep your receipts seperately huh!;)

DIdnt think of separating them from the box... but thats a good idea..
For the load, its not very huge but if able to then i would like to get abt 4 lens and a cam, 70-200 would be one of them. I think should be able to take out the boxes and keep the receipt separately at most just pretend that i went out for photo assignment.:bsmilie:

from wat i know, my aetos reservist friend told mi that the allowance is like S$50 for 24hrs oversea per person.but i not quite sure bout whether it works like this.
50x5(nites)=S$250x2(with another person)=S$500
so if 6 person means total allowance for everything is S$500x3=S$1500
if my tour 40 people means 40x250=10k for the whole group. :bsmilie:

10 lenses... no problem.
as long as you got ways to carry and pack them in.
*been with a "friend" with many lenses imported.

Hi All,

In HK now, just would like to share with all my recent purchase of Nikon Lens in this shop called Artex Digital Equipment.

Went to the usual Wing Shing in Mongkok and ask for 18-200VR and was quoted 5400, refused to discount, Citicall was better at 5280, finally went back to the 1st shop Artex (opposite Wing Shing) as they have earlier quoted me 5150.

Deal with an older man called Mr Sum and he is very patient and explain everything to me even I havent buy anything from him yet.

End up I bought the following from him (though some was for a friend)

1. 18 to 200 VR - 5150
2. 72mm Hoya UV HMC filter - 400
3. Vivitar DF3402 Flash - 980
4. Nikon AF50 1.4 - 2050

I dont know if the rest of the item (2 - 4) is a good deal or not but dealing with him is pleasant enough for me to part with my money.

All Nikon lens comes with International Warranty. S$ 1 ~ HKD$ 5.4

PS. I am not promoting or related to this shop, just to share my experience today.
