hi, i have a friend going to HK soon. Thgt if asking him to buy the nikon 18-200 vr2. Is the HongKong pirce MUCH better than Spore? Warranty would be local or international? pls advise. Id it's saving of $100 ood, then might as well 4get it. Tks.

Using the price base on ygdragon, you can save about $300+ when base on average sg price @ $1200.

You got to do your homework on which shop give you the price in sg.
And getting it from HK, you got to make sure that it comes with international warranty which is base on the warranty card and receipt.

tks 4 the info...Did some searching...For warranty, some pple mention that nikon camera BODY is LOCAL, but LENS is INTERNATIONAL. Anyone can confirm this? Tks

yes, body is only local, lens/flash always international. has been like this for some time.

just bot the lens from hk on my last work trip last week.
u can get it for ~ $950

Hey, think I've been here before. Its along the small road right? The shop damn small, filled with lots of stuff but the person tending the shop damn friendly. But if I'm not mistaken, most of his stuff are all shop warranties.

the prices listed on ygdragon or other website is a guide only...
actual prices varies alot.. sometime as much as 3 to 5 hundred hkg.. it really depend
and i can quote u an example..
I can go to this shop and they will quote u this price. and then next day if u go there
and another guy serve u , they can quote u a much higher price .
Another example was that.. at SHOP A.. canon lens was selling at 6800hkg. and the tarmon lens selling at 2780.. . u go to SHOP D.. the tamron is selling at 2600 but the canon is 7100..
so when u are out there. just do your homework and buy what u need.
and make sure if u know what u are buying is a local set, grey set or international set

some shop.... will have diff price for u if u are paying by cash or paying by credit card.
and from what fuzzyone had posted. u will know what i mean by diff shop diff price.
local set, grey set diff price. just like in sg.. no diff..

I bought mine from Citicall.
I bought mine for 5280 HKD. I went to all the usual suspects, Man Shing, Win Shing, Tin Cheung. The cheapest I got quoted was 5200 HKD @ Echo Photo @ Tsim Sha Tsui, but they did not have stock.

Figured 5280HKD was pretty good and if you take my exchange rate (5.678) it works out to SGD 929. I listed ~ 950. Trust me, I walked till my legs were sore. 18-200 VR with international warranty, you won't get something so far off. BEsides, that's a very good price compared to SG.

Although mine is a canon lens, Citicall seems to have the lowest price among Wing Shing, Man Shing and Tin Cheung in a lot of cases. Make sure you check with more than one Citicall shop if you are around Mongkok area. There seems to be 3-4 Citicall shops around and they are quite close together. Depends on the sales person, you might get different quotes from them as well.
