I afraid not.. Warranty is only local within the country itself. Only the lens and accessories have international warranty upon purchasing the item unless it's a grey set..

I going hk for xmas, i thinking of getting a canon EF 70 - 300mm IS USM there... i suppose the lens is covered by 1-year international warranty? coz my next destination is alaska. wanna get used to my toys first...

possible to extend e 1-yr international warranty?

my frens going to japan this week, does getting the same lens from japan have e same 1-year international warranty? how about pricing?

I got a 70-300mm IS from japan @ mapcamera (you may want to google). International warranty. bought at approx 63,000 yen after tax rebate back then. Japan got tax rebate, hk no. for the obvious reason that HK dun have consumption tax (aka GST)

hmm, i need a reason to convince myself to spend 3x more on a canon 70 - 300mm IS USM, when sigma 70 - 300 mm Macro is only $200 2nd hand... is it worth this additonal $600 for the IS and USM? (still a student, $$ easy out, hard to come in) =P

any idea wad's e price of a 2nd hand canon 70 - 300mm IS USM in sg?

HK sets should have international warranty, remember to check before buying. Buy lens with international warranty and not grey sets. There are a few reputable shops in HK.

Extension of warranty i am not sure. Dunno if need to extend the warranty in HK or SG.

Japan lenses come with international warranty as well. Ensure that you are getting a gd copy of the lens by asking your frens to test it there for u. Hopefully your frens are photographers as well.

for Japan pricing, you can check www.kakaku.com.

Their pricing can be much cheaper than SG and even HK.
