Technica: Go earlier, say 6-7pm so that you have enough time to go from shop to shop to check prices.![]()
Then u can just head straight to "xi yang chai" street, nearest MRT is mongkok station... Most of the shops mentioned are there... There are a min of 10 and more shops, though some are "repeated", just on this street alone...i'll be there for 5 days, i am feeling the urge to get the lens and flash the moment i touched down at HK cause' the 2nd day i will be going to Disneyland and i really really wanna test the 70-200 there. plus i will have the rest of the trip to see if there is anything wrong with the stuffs. :embrass:
but i only have about 2 hours in the afternoon(2-4pm i think) to shop around before we head off to The Peak to view sunset. arghhh!![]()

Like you, I really needed to get the lenses before the Disneyland trip but I was quite suay as the night before, I couldn't get what I wanted (tokina 11-16) as all the shops in Mongkok were out of stocks. I didn't get to visit wing shing because by the time I reached mongkok, it was about 9ish and I watched their shutters come down..The rest of the chain stores like citicall, broadway are open till late about 11pm.
That's why I recommend that you be early so that you can have more time to scout around should your items be oos.
Heng my luck turned for the better as the next morning before I went to Disneyland, I got my lens from TST.
OT abit, search online for packaged tix (entry+meals) for attractions like disney and oceanpark as it'll be cheaper. Same goes for The Peak + Mdm Tussads + sky terrace. And if you're going ngong ping, better prebook the tix online before you go because I was there on a sunday morning and the queue snaked all the way to the overhead bridge at citygate. With the prebooked tix, the staff opened the barrier for us to walk all the way to the ticket counter to exchange for the tix and within 10 pax, we were in the cabin.
Have fun!
Hi wiiuwii,
You mean all the shops in sim city do not have tokina 11-16? Then where you get your lens in the end and how much? Do they accept credit cards any extra charges?

ah, thanks for the advices.
anyway the free and easy trip was booked and prepared by my sister, so everything she arrange, i just go and enjoy only! LOL!
i cant be at TST man, time is too tight. hmm, maybe i will drop by mongkok area in the afternoon, if stocks are good and price ok, i will buy. else maybe go back at night to look out for more deals.
Hi tecnica, stores like DCcareer, DCFever, Tin Cheung is in the building call "Sim City" @ 47 山东街 http://g.co/maps/gka36。 Mongkok Wing Shing is just around the corner along 66 西洋菜南街 (66 Sai Yeung Choi Street South)http://g.co/maps/xvmdf.
Happy shopping!
thanks for the info, what abt the wing shing outlet at 97 Fa Yuen Street, Hong Kong?
which is better?
Sorry can't help u on these cos I didn't go to fa yuen st one. I prefer to shop at Sim City as all shops are clustered together. Easier on my legs.
hmm, noted this.
of the shops you mentioned, may i ask which one offers you the best price?
Price difference nt much, maybe hkd100? I got my lense from DCCareer. They have a wide range of lens and price is almost similar to www.price.com.hk
alright, thanks again. still thinking if i can cover all shops in under 2 hrs not, haha.
i'm still keeping track of the prices, somemore HKD getting a bit volatile now, not sure should i change some money first. :\
