Good luck on your next assignment in HKG and enjoy the food at Tsui Wah (if you like them) ! :D
People that are visiting HK should make an effort to visit one of their many restaurants LINK HERE. Not every 茶餐廳 is the same so try out 翠華 while in HK.

Actually, this is what I have been missing:

As for their Famous curry and chicken rice, they are still miles (or kilometers) away from what I can get here in Singapore. :) I will miss those when I go back to HK...

Singapore 茶餐廳 sucks big time... Almost puked the last time I ate it.

Bruder, r u from HK Tourism Promotion Board? HK Govt should confer you a medal of distinction for your help of their economy. The info is so well done, that I wish it could be in a file which one can print out. Not sure how best to print a thread of messages. Thank you!

cant believe I had 3-4 meal in this Tsui Wah restaurant.

As for the chicken rice, will suggest space in esplanade for the similar price but better quality chicken rice in SG.

We better not continue with our 翠華 discussion, otherwise this might become HK eating guide... ;p

On second thought, perhaps I should start one after I settle down in HK later this year...

besides photography/shopping gears, sometimes it's good to recommend any gd eating place nearby. :)

Hi CS

Is it any good to buy lense from HK Airport? Since there is no tax hence its still cheaper than SG?

I am transfering from Shenzhen to HK for flight home for my biz trip next week.

Airport shops' rental is pretty high and I would expect the price won't be that attractive there. Plus, you don't have much time to test the lenses so basically you won't have the opportunity to return it or exchange it. If you are aware of the SG price and the HK price is still favorable, then why not?

discuss about eating places in HK is valid with buying photog gear in HK mah, its not easy leh, move around shop to shop testing gear and buying and testing and buying, then hungry. must conquer hunger then can make informed and sensible decisions on more testing and buying and testing and buying.

dunno why, everytime buy gear in HK gives more kick than buying here, maybe its the holiday mood....

Actually prices for lenses in China is also quite attractive. Why not buy in China?

I got my prime lens for around 20% cheaper than SG prices.

O i didn't know that.

anyone know any reputable shop(s) in Shenzhen?

this might be my last biz trip before I change job... no more traveling le

Sorry. I know of the camera shops in Shanghai and Beijing.

Usually there should be an entire mall of camera stores. Try asking around.

SGD $$$ vali strong against HKD $$$
BBB virus for those who heaf HKG soonZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :)

Hi CS TAN,

Do you have any experience with T-Dimension in Hong Kong? I'm looking for Panasonic GF1, and they seem to have the lowest price in Hong Kong.

Thanks

I don't have any idea about this company. From the look of it, they do not have a store front in HK, just an online shop.

Hello, CS Tan... Thanks for all the wonderful info 'bout d camera shops in HK.
Actually I'm thinking of buying some accessories (no extra money to buy lens), such as eyepiece extender, neckstrap, etc during my trip to HK next month.
May I know which is d shop that can provide me all such accessories? Coz I won't have much time to walk in n out from one shop to another due to tight schedule.
BTW, I'll be staying @ Bridal Tea House (Anchor Street).
Thanks in advance!!

大角咀 is pretty close to Mongkok so I would say Wing Shing is your best bet. But if you are looking for more selections, perhaps you have to make a trip to Shum Shui Po Apliu Street (深水埗鴨寮街). 瑩記 should have the widest varieties of accessories available in Hong Kong.
However, I am not sure how much savings you will get from accessories such as eyepiece extender or neckstrap. You will need to know the SG price before you go otherwise you might pay more than SG.

In HK, always be careful when dealing with shops, the key is know what you want at what price point. Stay away from those unknown shops and you should be fine.
