i have 2 big round reflectors.should be sufficient?

i did try some low key last night.as my subject wore dark clothes, she blended into the black background.
i think 2lights really aint sufficient.:embrass:

Mirrors are too harsh. Get a proper reflector.

Hahaha...there are already so many replies.. I have even used reflectors with just ambient light from the window. What do you think? Enough?

try a signboard shop located somewhere here, or Art Friend.

can, a cheaper alternative is big polyform board 2"x4'x6'.

try again with some aluminum foil or sliver sticker sheet (art friend or fancy paper) on stick on compact form board to use as reflectors if you find the acrylic mirror is too expensive.

i just bought 6 pieces of black and white foamboard(black and white) 2 weeks ago.they are taller than me.let me try using it and i'll feedback again.

Those huge foam board can get quite expensive too. I bought mine for S$40? (if I remember correctly) a pop. The largest and best quality foam boards Art Friend has.

yes you are right. it's about 40+ but so far in sgp, they are the only ones selling such huge black or white 'reflector' boards.
couldnt even fit in MPV.in the end, got to get them to deliver.

believe it or not, i havent decided.i'm still playing with my friend's bowens.
so far so good.i like it but too bad it doenst have a remote control.

sometimes i got to get a stool to adjust the power ratios.:cry:

Aiyah just get 2 lights to start with then. Lacking anything then just go get next time. If you think that the switching power ratio thing is irritating, den just get powerpacks instead of monoblocks lor. It's more expensive usually though.

you buy above 100, delivery is free.
i bought 6 'taller than me pieces', and about 4 smaller pieces.

what's the diff bet powerpacks and monoblocks?

Monoblocks means everything in one body.Powerpacks means the bulb is in one housing, and the capacitor, power things and other things are in a pack on teh floor.Advantage is that you can control settings because it is near you on the floor (and the light is high high up)

when i setup my backdrop light to point at a white backdrop with color gels, why is it that the color casted on the white backdrop is very very faint(as compared to the color on the color gel?)?i even tried underexposing it, and it does little to help.

Control your other lights so that they don't bleed into your backdrop light.

A side interest is that a grey backdrop would take up stronger colour.

no other lights was fired.
i was just trying 1 light on white backdrop with all the diff gels.
some of the gels looked so dark that i thought the 'almost equivilant' color will be casted on the backdrop but seems like whatever power i set on the strobe will seem to lighten the color gel.

i dont have a grey backdrop.

more ques,

i was using my 70-200 f2.8 almost the entire sunday.
i noticed when i need to take full body, i had to reall go far, about 6-7 meters away from subject and take the shot.
how do i know if the 'perspective' is right?(such that the subject dont look like a dwarf)?

also, most of the half body shots with subjects sitted, i had to bend my knees and back, i ended up having to soak in hot water for 2 hours to ease the backpain.anyway around this?:embrass: what do you guys do?bear with the pain the entire day?i dont really have a stool that's suitable for the height i want to shoot.

the weight of d200+mb200 +70-200 is really killing me:cry: .not to mention i got to put it down at times to adjust the lights, fit on different modifiers...
studio is so much 'tougher' thatn outdoors really.:dunno:

It's like that one. Those colours you see will be much darker and saturated then compared to when projected, especially on white paper. You can try black for best results actually, but of course need much more power.
