Recently, while holidaying overseas, I saw a coffee machine which uses coffee "pod" which can deliver a cup of coffee at a time. This is rather convenient for producing one cup at a time and the "pod" comes in various blends. Flavour-wise the coffee produced by such a machine is comparable to what u get in a coffee cafe and each "pod" cost S$.60 which is much cheaper than u get for a cup of Espresso in a cafe. Back home, I tried looking for such a coffee machine in many places but nobody seems to be selling such a product. Anybody came across such a product here? Thanks.

Thanks for the direction. Wah lau, one home manual machine costs $850 and each capsule costs $0.76. Wifey loves it and demands for one. Looks like I gonna blow part of my bonus even before I get it next month. :(

wah, $900 + and it's only part of ur bonus? :P

mine wld be all gone liao. haha! :)

but i've to admit that the machine looks tempting, seems less troublesome than changing coffee grounds every time.

Yeah, besides the good taste, the machine is very convenient and easy to use with very minimal maintenance. I have tried it in a friend's house while holidaying and loved it but the cost of the machine is a killer. But, in the long run I guess it's worth it as a cuppa costs only $0.76 a capsule as compared to a few dollars in a cafe.

like cannot make cappucino... latte... only espresso...

Someone asked this qn before on CS.

Set up a kopitiam at home to offset cost mah.

While it's cheaper than cafe, it's way more expensive than normal ground coffee tho :)

Maybe if you're super busy and earn more than 7k a month, then i gues it's worth the investment.

Is it possible to stuff freshly ground coffee into one of those pellets?

I bought the Ikea manual xpresso boiler type for my wife. Costs less than $20 for the device and it does what it's supposed to: Steam pressure ground coffee to make xpresso. Best part is can easily choose whatever type of grounds u want - can even make kopipresso from local coffee! :bsmilie:

The $850 machine can brew espresso, latte, cappucino, etc. while the $600 machine gives u only espresso.

By your reckoning, then those ppl who own a DSLR epecially with other expensives lenses can easily afford this kind of machine 'cos a DSLR easily cost more than $1400 which is more costly than a coffee machine. Definitely, not many of them earn more than 7k a month.

Agree on this. It depends on your hobbies and expectation to pay for it.

$850 machine can brew espresso, latte, cappucino, I might as well go for it rather as it look worthwhile.

Does it need alot of cleaning after usage ?

I don't know about the cleaning aspect but such a machine definitely needs some form of maintenance to keep it functioning well over the years. But, I believe just some simple cleaning will suffice. I am definitely buying one - wifey wants one that can make espresso and cappucino while espresso is my only need. Decision, decision....... and $$$$ too. :bsmilie:

May I suggest this sexy-sure-to-start-your-morning espresso machine :bsmilie:

That's a sexy b!tch !!! I want one!

Hey guys, I've been using a simple expresso machine from Braun for the past 10 years. It's a relatively small machine that produces only steam for coffee and frothing milk. It's only $99, doesnt grind coffee beans, produces only 2 cups of coffee each time, which is perfectly fine for me :) moreover it's a simple machine to clean, just wipe the steam nozzles after each use.

Just my input :D
