kurtlim,thanks very much for ur informed knowledge & wisdom, i've to research more on what u say otherwise i'll be lost. I'm a bit concern about the cond of the 2nd hand G420,karung guni guy said i'll be the 2nd owner but there's no way i can find out right? Maybe i shld just buy it & pray hard?? If it is spoilt, i think nobody will repair it right? Sony technician will say, "Sir pls buy our new LCD panel." :cry:

its $40, so...or get the $679 Dell U2410, IPS panel with factory-tuned Adobe RGB and sRGB modes.

Ya quite true..for $40 can't complain..haha.Shld i tune it to sRGB mode when i buy the G420? There are buttons for me to choose right?..sorry i'm blur..

nono.. you dont tune to sRGB.

you calibrate your monitor to industrial standard color temperature and brightness levels, which is 5000k (some like 6500k) and 120cdm respectively, and the colors your monitor can produce after calibrating will probably give an accurate representation of the colors when you view your images in their respective color spaces.

Ok Clown,this is what i saw in HP 71 CRT adjustment buttons :
C1 = 9300K
C2 = 6500K
C3 = 5500K
C4 = 7100K
C5 = 11500K

In each of this C numbers there are R,G & B channels for me to adjust their numbers manually (don't know whether u know what i mean). Question : Do i select this C numbers & also the RGB myself or let Spyder 3 Pro does the job? I currently selected C2 = 6500K because 5500K is too yellow. C4 has strong magenta colour look while my eyes seems to like C1 & C5 :)

There is also this thing i saw which is H.F : 48.48 kHz, V.F : 60.25 Hz in another button. Question : Do i also change the numbers to my liking or let Spyder 3 Pro does the job? This Hertz stuff really complex..sorry i'm nt Pro in monitor :cry:

One more thing,i selected middle grey colour from Display (is in ctrl panel).There are 3greys altogether.Dark, medium & light grey for me to choose as background colour of my CRT. Question : Which one is the real 18% grey??

i don't dare to edit any pics 1st unless all these confusions are solved...:sweat: pls help...

ugh. other than the different presets, you should also be able to tweak the RGB values manually.
first, set the spyder3 to a target of 5000k, then when it comes to the screen where it shows the individual RGB Channel readouts, adjust the monitor RGB sliders using the monitor hardware buttons till the pointer on the spyder's panels are balanced.

btw, use 1280x960 instead of 1280x1024 as the CRT is in 4:3 aspect ratio, NOT 5:4.

kurtlim, what do u mean by this? U must be a computer scientist or what man,so deep...:confused: I must adjust those resolution on the CRT myself is it? -There's a karung guni man called me offering me a 2nd hand quite a decent condition G420,should i go for it? His asking is $40.

Urgh ... if you've posted this in June, I'd have given you mine ... in the end I let Salvation Army have it ...

Thank u Clown i will try & update...

Hai..i missed the boat,thank u Adam...

Please help, guys!! I adjusted my resolution to :

1024 x 768 : I use this only when i read mail or doing office stuff at home bcoz wording is quite big.

1152 x 864 : I'm using this currently as everything looks ok.

1280 x 1024 : EVERYTHING looks small especially words, i only use this when doing Photoshop as resolution is max for my CRT.

Question : I realised that when i press "Ctrl +" (u do the same step when enlarging pics in photoshop) the wording in the text gets bigger?? What i mean is the text that i'm typing now in replying to guys in CS will get bigger when i press "Ctrl +" but words in CS3 column (top,left & right) are all very small. Any wise man can help pplleaasse!!

Another question is :

Can i keep changing my resolution if needs be?? bcoz 1280 x 1024 resolution is stressing my eyesight when i read words. It's too small for me to read.

thank u very much kurtlim....;) scholar u are...

Hello CSers,
Just would like to know whether u guys know of any business contact to buy high end CRT?...many places not selling this tech anymore. Pls help...:cry: btw i'm nt interested with latest Lacie, NEC, Samsung, LG or NEC high end LCD...i need to rob a bank to buy them.

Just curious, why would u need a CRT for? LCDs are going on the cheap these days.

hello MettaLife, u ain't see nothing yet.Ask kurtlim,Clown,ortega & other CSers (wise ones) what's CRT & they will tell u. Before the top end LCDs are born, CRTs already had the top notch resolution,unbeatable!! In US, many Pros still using this dinosaur Tech.Dun believe what TVs & newspapers says about tech,just visit those pros studios & editors rooms...u will know the truth. If i knew photography editing earlier I would have bought those top end NEC,Sony,Philips & Hp CRTs man...:cry:
