But anyway does canon always come out a new model to replace the old one so soon? If i'm not wrong i read that this 550D is only out for 6 months or so? :think:

For the XXXD range, Canon seems to release a new model every year.

Agree with enzeru21 as well, since it's your first DSLR after a PnS (I assume) I feel that the 550D is already quite good in my own point of view as their operating systems are quite similar. Plan your $$ and get started. Spend some time finding out what type of photography you like to do most after you got it and read up on the Lens and stuff towards that direction before spending on the next item.. =)
Chances are, you will be upgrading from a 550D to maybe a 60D/7D or better still maybe a 70D/8D or something rather than to a 600D/650D in time to come. So I'll not worry too much about another new entry level DSLR. Well, just to share my thoughts
