help!!! 7d or 5d?

Had seen a photographer using a 1DsM3... and asking me how to activate the "pop-up flash" and "auto mode"... coz it's his first dslr (previously was using PnS). To me it's his $$$, how he want to spend it is solely up to him...

A friend who went to the Canon Free training told me someone in his group had a 1D series camera, either 1DsIII or 1DIV… learning what is Shutter Speed and Aperture… :/

When money is not an issue, why not go for the best?

it doesnt matter what equipment the person is using, so what if he get a 1 series camera as his first dslr? he got the money, and he wants the best, and appreciate the best, so why not? or is it just pure jealousy at works again?

Likewise, i have never buy any car before, and the first car i am going to buy is a ferrari. So when i do get it later in my life, are there ppl gona mock me saying a newbie driver with a PRO car? or is it just pure jealousy at works again?

Personally, i have never bought any camera in my life, and the first cam i got for myself is a DSLR - the nikon D50. My family has never bought any camera before and the best we had was the disposable fuji or kodak camera.

My point is this, whatever camera the person uses, or watever lens the person has, regardless of how knowlegeable is him, it doesnt matter. If the person has spare money, appreciate getting the best and not having to upgrade and upgrade, theres nothing to hold him back.

to those that r saying better equipment dun help, pls tell me wat camera u r using.of course when u shoot more,u will get better and better...but when u can afford a better equipment, why not?toyota and bmw is both car,r u saying is the same?

Thanks. Sometimes newbies get really overawed by this equipment doesn't matter argument.

Nothin wrong wid 50d. If im u, i ll keep it... Save the money... Probly sell the 17-40 to get 17-55 unless u plan to upgrade to ff later.

I will suggest getting 5D Mk ii because it is a great all around camera that will suit your all around shooting. Your lens setup is ready for FF. You may want to sell your 50D. For my case, one Dslr body is enough. For backup camera can consider a P&S or micro 4/3 or leica M9.

I got 5D Mk ii and find it adequate for most situations.

I'm quite inclined to do so too. But the strong rumor that mk iii will be out soon makes me hesitate.

Well said kcuf2  To TS - pull the trigger and upgrade and share your photos. We will respect your decision.

Wait for the 5D3. And keep shooting with the 50D.

Aiyo, what's wrong with 50D? I'm having 16-35 f2.8, 50 f1.4, 70-200 f2.8 IS II & I'm getting 24-70 f2.8 soon, the camera I'm using.... haha..... 550D... 1 more 5 than you! Lagi cartoon, 70-200 on a tiny body... I also thinking of getting 5DMK2 but what the hack... I just wait....

Dun need to rush just use what you have now and maybe wait for 5DMK3... meantime can save up $$$$ first cos it's gonna be more X than 5DMK2.

True… Perhaps it’s a tinge of jealousy on my part. LOL.

Or maybe a tinge of pity - because I don’t think he’ll be using all the features of the camera for a really long time.

Use it or not is up to the user, not for u to decide.he is asking for opinion not some unnecessary point of view.

You must realise that the Mk3 will not be at the same price bracket as the Mk2.
The current Mk2 price has already been discounted, taking into account its age and the new entrants into this segment. Despite its age, it is still a very hard act to follow in terms of its range of color rendition and the selection of lenses available.

Read the context of my reply - I was talking about a New user using a 1D series body, not the TS. :/

The TS mention he intend to take outdoor/indoor sports, landscape and "Try to macro (tough!!)" with his new body.

Below is a some shots that were taken by a 450D with a single kit lens... with the genre...

Personally I feel that 7D and 5DMKII makes a good combo for different needs..

Nice!!!! But pls read one of my posts. I know some of u can shoot award winning shots with a 10d or even a point and shoot. I doubt I'm that calibre.

For the indoor sports shot, what flash did u hit it with?
