I don't give critique in CS, not becasue i don't like to share. Just that i'm always abit blunt and straight forward. Don't want to make people :bheart:.

No wonder you're the MPP (Most Popular Person) in CS. :bsmilie:

Not me lah.....

You are the MPP followed nm.:thumbsup:

How many of you have actually gotten a rude comment from other member(s) of clubsnap?
Personally, I have seen some, esp to newbies who might ask fundamental questions on photography.

Have you gotten stung as well?

Care to share some of the rudest comment you have gotten? ;p

I have only one rude comment so far.

Don't know why the poster had an accident after that. He broke his leg on his way home in the dark of one lonely night.

And that was the first and only bad comment I've had.

After that incident no one dares to give me bad comment anymore.

Don't know why. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

After you posted your recent self portrait, who dare to give you bad comments.

1: Wah.. you so lousy one, why go take pic like that one ah.. post some more.. wah..
2: Don't like your photo
3: For me your photo does not work because....

sometimes, i put 2 because for me, i thought it was pretty obvious..

some things don't have to be elaborated on, right??

generally i tend to put more effort in commenting on photos which seemed like more thought was put in.

:) Obvious is what you know. If they knew they wouldn't be doing it wrong (unless they are lazy in which case I won't bother getting involved at all), so they need to learn.. so - at least for me - I feel l want to tell them so that they will learn and then it will be obvious to them :)

Rude/polite is subjective.

Remember clubsnap is a gathering of many nationalities. It could be just some difference in expression, direct translation etc.

I remember the first time I was in Singapore wetmarket, someone shouted behind me "Hello, Hello".
I thought wow people here are so nice, dont know me but say hello but actualy the aunty behind me pushing a big cart of vegetable want me to give way.
Then I thought, that is somewhat rude, why did she not say "Excuse me".

But then after a while I get used to it. I have even learned how use "lah" properly, to say "Siam" and swear in Hokkien. :)
(I am Chinese, Hokkien, but dont really speak both language due to some old political reason of my home-country.)

So when someone say "photo is ugly" then I guess it is one way of saying it, and please dont take that personally.
The person who posted the comment may not have a good command of English, may be a 5 yrs old, or has posted a translation from google/yahoo or other translation tool?

Rude is very subjective.

example of a very common sight in CS.

Mr A posted a photo.

Mr B wrote: Badly done, I don't understand why you took it this way.

Mr A reply: If you don't like it, please keep your comments to yourself.

Who is rude here????

Some might felt that Mr B is rude and been elitism.

Some might flet that Mr A is rude and can't take comments.

In this case, Mr. B shouldn't post if he doesn't have an explanation of what he thinks is wrong. It just wastes everyone's time, doesn't it?

not really lay, sometime when u do / see / read / smell / taste / hear / feel something, there is a feeling something is not right but dont know how to put it in words.

It really depends, like many had mentioned, CS is a big community.

Mr B might felt that Mr A should do some self-critique before posting up photo to waste everyone time.

Mr B might want Mr A to further explain why he shot it this way but Mr B is not very good in expressing himself.

Mr B had been noticing Mr A only interested in uploading bulk of snap-shots.

Mr B is just expressing his view but he just put it too blunt.

or Mr B is just plain rube to pick on Mr A.

In another way

Mr A should be accept C&C with open heart, but he choose to rebuke.

Mr A should just ignore Mr B and he choose to attack back.

Mr A felt very hurt on the comments that why he comment back in a harsh way.

or Mr A just want to heard sugar-coated comments.

On the other hand, if Mr A cannot take criticism of any sort. Then why bother to ask for comments? I do noticed that a lot of Cser who put up photos for critics only expect the below comments

- nice
-
