I just downloaded the Phocus Apps on my iphone but it lacks sufficient information to get me going. There isnt much info on the web/ H website on this and i read from other forum that the cam has to be tethered to the Desktop in the first place... Quite defeat the purpose... but i am sure the R&D team at Hasselblad has thought of this...

just downloaded the new Phocus 2.6. I am not sure how the PhaseOne software works but the Phocus 2.6 is better than before 2.4 onwards. Its easier to produce larger amount of pictures and its easier when compared to previously. I would say it gives a new lease of life to the H3D-39 that i am using. Its no longer painful to use a Hasselblad. In short, i would say its almost like shooting with a 35 mm and using Lightroom and Photoshop combined. I would say that Hasselblad is really working hard to meet its competition and its user's needs.

I couldnt try the Phocus quick because my OS is only 10.5.8 and its something i would look forward to.

Jace, in order to fully exploit Phocus 2.6 to its fullest potential, I'd suggest upgrading your OS to Snow Leopard. Phocus for Mac exploits the Mac's system level core engines - so it functions just like the mac's preview and file recognition system.
Phocus Quick is simply a LITE version of Phocus used for very quickly importing 3FR files in a big batch, without the heavy weight of the actual program. You can also use Phocus Quick to quickly generate previews & thumbnails so that your client or whoever can see your 'RAW' shots without having to wait for the actual Phocus to load and generate the FFF files.
Phocus Mobile which you've downloaded on the iPhone is not meant to process files, but it's meant to allow you or a client to view whatever's being viewed on the main computer your H3D39 is tethered to.

Shriro is organising a HUG meeting this coming Tuesday 8th March at 6:30pm to talk about the new Phocus 2.6, Quick and Mobile. Do come and listen.

Thanks Canonised...appreciate it...how did you make the pics appear?
Wow, Pete. The zoom is a good as the primes. What aperture was this?
I set the shot up for F8 / 1/350.
Be careful with the focus for the 50-110. The last version I used had back focussing issues - but it was during a runway shoot I did for the Ashley Isham show.

Eujin, it was shot as you set it up...I think f8/ 1/320 at iso100. The lens is as sharp as the prime at 50 and 80. But I think what's special about the lens is the rendition of micro-tones...very smooth...dare I say it...like Leica glass...biggest problem with this lens is its weight...1.8kg...ouch!

Need a bit more fill...we should have plucked the Lastolite from the other set...

Pete, we mustn't forget that Fujinon (who make the HC lenses) have a lot of experience in large format and broadcast lenses - generally recognised in the industry as really really top-notch lenses that hold their own against their European counterparts. :)

I'm supposed to share my fashion runway experience (shooting with H4D-40 and H3D-39 using the 55-110 zoom, 50mm & 80mm lenses) in a future HUG gathering.
Must say while there was the S2 present trying to do the same - it simply couldn't keep up with the H4D...

wow. looks like you guys had fun.

Fujinon makes very good lenses for MF and LF cameras. Though the S2 is great, the sensor isn't. The astonishing Summarit may push the resolving power higher a notch but the sensor size let it down totally. The common rumor and belief of an M9 with 50mm ASPH on par with an H4D-40 makes me want to laugh indeed. There is just so much the small bucket can fill right? Can't wait for the trip to Bali with my Hassy.
