Hands-on with Pentax K-r :)

any low iso pictures from the k-r? :D

you should definitely get the k-5 lah, master.

the current DR is bottlenecked by the readout bits rather that the CMOS itself, that is why k-5's 14bit readout will give you 14 stop DR :)

ok, just a quick random few anyhow snap images - handheld as well.

will post up more in the days to come , when i get to bring out the k-r for a proper test.

100% 800x800 crop before NR

iso6400 - i'm impressed, even though i don't really use iso6400

100% 800x800 crop after NR
test02-afternr.jpg

iso6400

image resized to 700 pixels widest, iso6400 before NR

definitely will do so in the days to come.

in fact, i'm raring to head out now just to try, since this is the only point that gets my heart racing when it comes to high iso.

and of course, i did a check to make sure that the bulb mode didn't have that long exposure NR thing... :bsmilie:

i tried to google - upon quick inspection i already know that the k-r doesn't take wired remotes

on the bright side, i remember denis saying that this was easily solved by remote and the implementation was just sweet - press once to start, press once to stop

now for the question that i can't find an answer to, but you guys could possibly help me with.....

does the k-r use the same type of remote as the k-7, k-x, k20d, blah blah blah? thanks in advance :)

:sweat::sweat:

thanks, is one x k-r

wah...your pattern order the K-r is like a Samurai order a parang. I would have thought the full featured K5 would be better suited to an expert user like youself, man. Anyway congrats! I was playing with idea of upgrading the Kx but its only 2 months old. In fact, most of the cameras I owned do not last more than 6 months in my possession before being upgraded/replaced. The BBB virus is strong in me. But cannot keep up with the new model curve..so I will control! :bsmilie:

i don't really use a lot of the features in the k20d, i realise...

that said, i must say the k-r's ergonomics are much improved from the k100d - it's not that the k100d was bad, just that it's much better now.

despite that though, i would think that k20d and therefore k-5 would still be much better handling wise.

but i'm just a hobbyist, a simple camera will do in the future, especially since now i have my wings relatively clipped. :)
