Hands-on with Pentax K-5 :)

but i don't know the price. seriously considering it. :bsmilie:

just to solve the long exposure NR problems. sale of k20d should cover it pretty easily..
i was apprehensive about the price when i pre-ordered but decided to take the plunge...the poison was strong :sweatsm:
must say i'm happy with the pricing. anyway the community of pentax users is relatively small and if i were the sole distributor i'd be very careful with pricing in order to keep my customers happy and loyal to the brand, which i think emjay has done pretty well.

for those interested, i think the twin kit lens (Kr) package gives most bang for the buck. anyway, price sensitivity is relative...

Yes, I really take my hat off to Emjay for this one.

the price is really attractive.

i just dug out my k20d receipt and i paid $1794 for it 2 years ago.

i think as you get older, you realise that you are spending way too much on this... :bsmilie:

i bought my K20D a few months after you in HK and i paid HK5500 for it. guess patience is golden. but not this time. i was sold on the high ISO feature and video...

sorry no pix to post yet, probably will shoot some bugs this weekend.

bought 50D last year couple of months earlier than K-7 for about $1650 and sold it about two months ago $1,100, bought K-7 last year $1799 and sold today $950 :(

If want to buy do it quick. I was told by Emjay today once the promotion is over, they intend to increase the price by $100-$200. In fact, they also indicated some retail stores already have stock but it is limited. The 35mm f/2.4 is already out of stock and expected to come in only in mid Nov. At least that is what i was told this afternoon. Not sure he meant at Emjay or include the retails stores too :)

my thinking is, the price is too attractive, looking at the lowest price the k-x ever went to.

so had to buy. :bsmilie:

i know someone has a new k-5.... where are his test pictures? :bsmilie:

wow... seems like everyone i know has bought a K-r or K-5... im left out... :(

Will collect my K5 tomorrow ;p
And have 1 problem, since as first timer pentax users, I don't hv any lens yet.
At first plan to order with 18-135mm kit, but the lens only available around earlier nov.
So, plan to get tamron 18-200mm lens :dunno:
Any expert here shd I get this lens first?
For me, just hobby shoot, nothing specific yet.
Thanks for your feedback :)

Get a DA35/2.4 first (but I heard all sold out already?), no point getting a lens like 18-200 for such a good camera. K5's 16mp sensor really needs good quality lenses to shine :)

Just buy a used lens on the classifieds. Usually can sell pretty close to your purchase price if you don't want it eventually.

As an ex-owner of a Tamron 18-200mm, I don't think you will do justice to your K-5. After spending so much $ on getting a K-5. Follow Tsammyc advise and get a second hand lens off BnS.

i think you should get a tamron 17-50, it will be a relatively decent lens that will not be too horrible paired with the k-5.

congrats on the purchase. i'm sure you will really enjoy it.

Thanks for all the input, will check on B&S first :)

I got mine today. ;p
Thanks to seafone & pinholecam for their advice. ;)

Can't wait to try it out in the field.
