[Hak] Exploring Singapore

Burning Surprise

It was another grey and gloomy Friday evening. I was tempted to go off for dinner, but since I already brought my gear out, I decided to stay on and hope for a miracle. Just when I thought there wasn't hope, the clouds started to turn orange gradually and I immediately set up my tripod and camera, just in time to capture the beautiful burning clouds!

Colourful Extravaganza

Round 2 of SEA Games fireworks. After searching on Google maps for an ideal location, I found one that I liked and did a recce one night last week, before coming back on Saturday for the fireworks. Glad that it turned out the way I wanted!

Sorry, didn't see your reply earlier! I used the Sony A7R and Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS.
This was taken from one of the HDBs near Mountbatten MRT.

Blocks

I was pretty sure this location would be empty, so I didn't bother to rush down early to camp. However, unlike previous rehearsals, there wasn't any sign of fireworks at all before 10pm, making me wonder if they cancelled this rehearsal. I was prepared to give up, pack up and go, when the fireworks finally appeared.

Step Back

I wanted a different composition from the tons of photographers standing by the water, so I took a few steps back to the middle of the empty field. It wasn't a pleasant wait because many kids started to run around the field while waiting for the fireworks, and one of them even tripped over my tripod, which meant I could not easily blend in the earlier stadium firework shot if I wanted to. During the fireworks, one of those kids stood in the middle of my framing and covered his ears, so I decided to include him in my final photo.

The Last Burst

I was here to shoot the blue hour scene, but the light from the sunset that day was just too beautiful not to shoot.

Incoming

Had to run after taking this shot of the dark stormy clouds approaching from the west because the wind was blowing up all the sand from the construction site and the rain followed soon after.
