GX1 coming on November 8! With G3 sensor + specs leaked!

Personally I prefer good performance all around, as the performance of the GH2 sensor isn't exactly fantastic on the low end, and barely APS-C at ISO-1600. For sure, I would like better dynamic range and so forth, but it seems that Panasonic has a lot of catching up to do on the sensor front.

Kodak is good in ccd, which is only good for resolution at low iso.

Nowadays if u notice, people are crazy over high iso at the expense of low iso performance.

I think most of those people never used film or else they wouldn't be complaining. The first time I tried ASA 1000 or 1600 film, I almost cried because it was so bad. I wasted a lot of money on one roll of that stuff. Now, we can shoot from any dSLR (or mirror-less camera) and get a more reasonable ISO 1600 image and it doesn't cost anything extra.

Still, what Kodak know could greatly enhance what Panasonic know.

Ha.. ha.. not to mention expecting ISO1600 to be noiseless/grainless as ISO100.
What current cameras can do now was science fiction just 10 years ago.

I personally thought Fuji Superia 1600 wasn't to bad, even though the grain was pretty large.

By that time, it was too late for me. I could have painted the image I wanted. ;)

Sometimes, I remember film having a sort of character and adding to the atmosphere, as when you pushed Ilford HP5 too far. Everyone who starts with a dSLR thinks all photos should be completely perfect and yet, so many have no idea about photography. They just want each 4x6 to look good and they want the equipment to look impressive, so that they can be "professional". :bsmilie:

My favourite film too at 1600. Grainy but pretty sharp. I still have a 24 x 16" print on my wall.

Sorry wrong info from the shop. Should be GF3X. Stock arrived today.

Have some bad news, DPreview forums are reporting that the new firmware hasn't fixed the double image problem... dunno how panasonic will go from here...

Read that... better for the 45-175 but anything shot at 1/100-1/200 has a fair chance of getting double image (50%). Also read other threads about the 14-42 X lens. Same problem.

well the good news is, since the problem only exists on some settings, it's likely to be a firmware issue that can be sorted out with a few firmware fixes... (I'm crossing my fingers on this)

Interesting, on Panasonic's facebook, the camera will be launched middle of December. That's pretty soon man.

it will be a good christmas gift, isn't it?

According to today's straits times, the sugguested retail price for GX1 + 14-42mm X lens is S$1299...

current prices G3 body is $899, i wonder if the G3 body will drop to 699? then i will pair with 20mm 1.7.....If G3 body 799, I would get the GX1 body at $899....

G3 has a built in EVF and swivel touch screen LCD, plus it shares the same sensor as GX1, no reason to drop price
