Can have a look at this website i've found comparing the G3 and the GX1.

And since i was seriously tempted to get the G3 just a few days ago, i've actually started a mini-comparison thread here.

Suffice to say, after doing some research, the differences were significant enough to warrant a wait for the GX1, IMO.

Does Panasonic have any international warranty? I see the GX1 in the shops in Hong Kong now.

Bro zan82 has mentioned recently that warranty from hk only covers hk and china and he should be right since he's the man from sgp panny.

Thank you. This is interesting as the salesman in HK said that the GX1 has international warranty and reading another thread, it seems that someone else in HK said the same. No rush to buy it now so will wait for it's release in Dec 20.

Hi guys, on my end I'd verify this situation again and make it clear once and for all on international warranty validity.

Sorry for the confusion now.

Somehow I prefer to stay anonymous too, so please don't quote me/my nick, ha.

By the way, GX1X is already selling in Hong Kong? How's their package like? I'm a normal consumer now :D

Just picked up my GX1 in Hong Kong a three days ago. The package varies from shop to shop. There are two packages available in Hong Kong. The twin lens kit includes the 14-12 and the 14mm 2.8 retailing at approx 7500HKG, the other is a body only option retailing for approx 5300HKD in very limited pieces. The x lens kit is not out yet but should retail for close to the price of the twin lens kit. The LVF2 is also not available yet. Most big chain stores like fortress and broadway are selling pretty close to retail. I managed to get a twin lens for 6350HKD, but unlike singapore, most of these stores do not include any extras like SD cards etc. Some shops that are selling at retail will throw in an original leather case and thats pretty much it. I think it would still be cheaper in HKG.

Hi all n yupeee

I have up to Fri to decide if I shld get e gx1 in HK before I fly home. So yupeee u r ok if there's no warranty?

If I go to mongkok, wld anyone recommend any specific good shop I should go to?

Thanks to all helping...

There is a full page advert on the GX-1 in the Straits Times today.

Does it mean that the camera will be available earlier now?

Bro, you bought parallel import? Price cannot be that cheap based on the prices I have seen so far.

I also got that magical "20th" date for the GX1 release in Singapore! :D I already aim nicely the 45-175 X with the GX1X kit.

Hi all, mine is a hkg set with one year warranty. As far as I know it is pretty close to the dealer cost in HKG. In my experience with my pana gf-1 and 2, Most did not give any problems in the first year. Keep my fingers crossed. I travel to hong kong every few months for business, so a hong kong warranty is ok for me . Try the electronic shops at windsor house or computer centre, forget the small shops on nathan road or along the main street in Mong kok. Most r rather dishonest.

Is there a WORLDWIDE WARRANTY indicated on your warranty card and is it issued by Shun Hing (HK)? Did u purchase it from a HK authorised dealer? If u did, better make sure u keep a copy of your receipt and the green warranty card. U are supposedly covered by international warranty in a no. of countries as listed on the card.

dont have my guarantee card with me now but i know it is a hong kong/china warranty. As far as I know, even international warranties e.g. nikon might not be accepted in singapore with the exception of Olympus which has a true international warranty.

Dont assume as i have already received an official reply from Panasonic HK. The ultimate decision comes from Panasonic Japan. Lets wait for our local representative to come back to us on this issue.

when I bought a nikon DSLR from HKG the last time. I specifically stated international warranty, when I brought it in for a back focus recalibration, I was told that the international warranty does not cover singapore. Not sure if it is the same for Panasonic

Hi guys, I will start a separate thread at a later time for an explanation of the limited warranty status.

Meanwhile, stocks for GX1 should be available starting this weekend =)
