Calfornia's VAT or GST is 7.25%

Soon Singapore's GST is 7%

Is Singapore anywhere near California in terms of overall standard of living?

California Dreaming ...

heard Thailand is double digits... :sweat:

Actually the increase of GST can be off set if , if , if our CPF contribution comes down to 13% ? :think: ;p

My greatest wish is that there is no CPF contribution to medisave and special account; just all to ordinary account. This is another topic altogether.

Countrymen, lend me your Ears;
Vote us if you want a bright future in Here.
We will give you More Good Years;
But be prepared for more unpredictable Fears.

Fear Factor of Singapore.

ya was thinking of that, due to globalisation, i think alot of companies are closing down... like it or not, this will further hurt local manufacturing companies that have not globalised, and more ppl will lose their jobs with it... there is more companies moving to indonesia, thailand & malaysia for manufacturing, and once they are gone, the next is the support companies then the service companies... all gone, all left to eat grass... provided still got grass on the concrete floor...
With the exception of Cuba & DPRK, the movement towards globalisation & the chain effect is inevitable.

With extreme seclusion, u get an economy that implodes on itself.
With full globalisation, u get an exploding economy but eventually there are some countries that suffer.

Damned if u do, damned if u don't.

Eventually how are we going to make things better for ourselves (I'm sure u had ;))?

I'd thought that with photography, the ppl here are significantly more enlightened as they venture deeper to find out on the meaning of 'Sight, Perception, View' end up seeing this thread rattling the lines of argument I'd seen elsewhere too.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? :think:

Remember sometime last yr someone say a annual income of S$600,000 is peanut. I believe all of us least that I don't know of, would be in the safety net scheme. :devil:

2/5 is actually a 40% increment of the GST. Did our salary increase in that kind of % :angry:

only 1.2m got to vote please... my area didn't get to vote. it's only 66% of 1.2m...

Yo bro,

I know lah, but don't you find it funny, seems like everyone u talk 2, friends in north, south, east and west all complained abt garment, but still they won 66.6%?
Me too never got to vote this time round.... I think it's the "last min fear syndrome" that is running thru their mind at the poll station.... it happened to me though, 5 yrs back! I took a few mins to run thru the possibility of anything....will I be mark if I vote wrongly? Will I be mark forever, or even my kids in future will be mark....will my parents suffer etc.....

ppl now complain abt garment and said they wouldn't vote for them but wait till you see them at the voting booth.....and result will turn otherwise! This is Singaporean!! :confused:

Nah.... anw I've already give up on such game every 5 yrs... all I now care is to work hard, earn more, save more, invest more and plan for my family's future, and take more photographs!! HAhahah :D
I still love Singapore as my home but as for the garment, I give up on them liao....just live the life as it is!!! Imagine our future leader dancing Hip Hop? faint ah! ;p

Please go and see how much CEOs of MNCs are paid before reverting to the old peanut statement. I can't believe how people are still making fun of this peanut thing. He's not the CEO of some small company or a salaried worker of a company, he was the CEO. Was the statement insensitive given the circumstances? Probably. But his $600,000 renumeration was not anything out of the ordinary.

And please, your expenditure is not going to increase by 40% due to the GST increment... :rolleyes:

With all the BBB going around here, u shld expect to see a 100% expenditure increase.

And as usual, its always easier to pin the blame elsewhere. We're human beings after all. :bsmilie:

Ho Ho ho..... I don't blame anyone....did I? :confused: :dunno:
I'm just telling what I observed, heard and experience!
F*** care politics lah, everywhere in the world is the same! We have to live with it, price hike? Which country don't hv price hike?
Even if the opp becomes the garment, they'll do the same thing!
Don't misunderstood me bro! There're no one to blame at all, but still, the 66.6% still must face the music lah, it's indirectly all thanks to them loh! :bsmilie:
Hahahah...I'm not worried or paranoid! Just live the life and think a bit Ah Q and all will be fine! ;)

Quoted from my late grandpa.... those involve in the politics, not a single one of them is "good person" >>> direct translation from Mandrain!
A politician Dancing Hip Hop?? Haiz.....Kekekekek...

:cheergal::cheergal: 7% :cheergal::cheergal:

i remember the taxi fare hike (oh all the no more taxi rides...take mrt etc..)

Hip Hop MPs !!!! Wah Piang eh!!!!! No eye see. :bsmilie:

Ultimately if one do becomes a politician, its all abt answering to his/her own conscience when something is implemented or not.

If he has nothing to hide and in the clear that he'd truly served the people to his best of ability, he can die in peace. Ultimately we all end up 6ft underground, but its all abt living up to ur own conscience & integrity.

Of cos, if politicians reported every single little thing they did to the people, they ain't gonna have any privacy at all. Politicians are human beings too.

"Those who's involved in politics not a single one of them is 'good person'?" Hmm... :think: Dun think I'd wanna comment on this.

Something like that!
