Dear all, there is an firmware update on Hero 3 Black Edition. Now you can control the camera settings and take pictures/video using your IPad and IPhone.

Its a fun little camera indeed The 720 /120p is quite nice to give some cool slow-mo effects.

The entire fireworks display at yesterday's New Year Celebration was recorded using the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition in HD mode and uploaded to Youtube.

I think the HD video quality at night is so-so niah. :think:

I got my hero 3 Black Edition. Tried to connect with my iphone. But on the iphone go pro app, it say wifi back pac not connected.But my gopro ald have build in wifi already. I already updated my gopro firmware update. Anyone Can help me? Thank you all.

Change your gopro wifi settings. It defaults to remote, not the iphone app.

And as always read the manual/FAQ =p Firmware does have some instability issues though and I have had to pull the battery a few times since.

Mine too.
After updating the firmware, my Hero3 'hangs' like nobody's business. Becomes totally non-responsive frequently and need to remove and reinsert the battery to get it working again... only to hang again if unlucky. Very inconvenient especially if the camera is in the waterproof casing.

I have been having the same issue. A couple of times, startup the camera liao will just hang there with the video icon.

I did change gopro wifi settings to goproApp. But still cannot. Now, I send mail to gopro about problems. It cannot be the camera problem right? Should I call the shop I buy from?

make sure that your wifi connection between go pro and iphone is really working.

I had this problem where the wifi connection was good, but no matter what i did gopro app just couldn't connect. The "pop up box" in go pro app jumps out every time i tried to connect. Restart iphone then ok liao. I am on iphone 4s ios6.

When I check my phone wifi after I connect, it said connected. When I go my gopro app, I can tap connect and control. In next page, it show wifi bac pac not connected. wifi signal is only 1 bar.

Reflash the wifi settings update. THat worked for me when it somehow decided not to connect over wifi before ahah

recently bought this camera also. i think its not the camera price that kills but the accessories lol
already bought a suction cup mount and battery bacpac for my Black Edition.

after purchase immediately brought it out for some motorsport fun ;p

i just bought mine yesterday and updated the fw to the latest. having the same hanging issue. how to refresh? thanks

Actually, you need to go to setting and choose gopro hero in the wifi if you are using iPhone or iPad. I am using iPad mini, which linked to the gopro hero black.

When you go to your wifi settings, is it gopro app or phone/tablet option you all choose? My wifi setting is showing gopro app and remote rc.
