Fiery Meal

NOTE:

Was on holiday recently and ordered my favourite breakfast - Omelette with everything, extra cheese, extra onions!
As i took my camera out to shoot this cook, he tried to impress me with some firework display! Heheh...

Sidewalk

NOTES:

Trying out a new PP i've learnt, to emphasize the 3D effect in a picture. Usually we use perspective to achieve this,
such as the street leading into the distance. To complement this, i toned the entire image. Look at the sky. It was
all white but managed to create a subtle gradation into light grey. A movement from light to detailed shadows.

Grill

NOTES:

I like the patterns formed by the grill and the floor. The man on the left is a side intrest to justify this as street photography.

Red Letterbox

NOTE:

PP to emphasize the redness of the letterbox and cross processed the other way for the remaining 1/3 of the picture on the right for contrast. Warm red vs Cool blue.

I don't feel like that when I see the pic. More like, the man is primary subject - and especially that bright green bin, it just stands outs. If you want to isolate him, it's not that difficult. Again, not enough space given to the man, but I assume you did that because he's not your primary subject.

Cramping the subject can be used for greater purpose... but in this case, I don't see the purpose of doing so. Suggestion is to learn to get the basic rules right first... before breaking them.

I see how the man can also dominate the picture. I think I may get the theme of patterns across better if this was shot in b&w as the bright green bin would not be too distracting. The colour seems to take away the repetitive nature of the criss-cross pattern on the grill, floor and the man's shirt. That pattern dominates 90% of the frame. That was supposed to unify the theme and justify the man's inclusion. Yes a b&w approach might have worked better. The reason i chose colour was to bring the man into the picture due to his similar skin tone to the grill. Thinking again, it would still be similar in tone if b&w! Hehehe...

As always a pleasure discussing photography with you.

Working the Streets

NOTE:

My fiancial adviser once told me that i would need a savings of $500K or more, to sustain my current lifestyle
past the retirement age when i am no longer working for 20 years. More if i live longer. Sheesh!! The reality of
living in our sunshine city-state eh?

NOTE:

A common occurrence. Even when you do put coupons (as can be seen in the windscreen), you still get fined
when the time is up! Never mind, looking at the car, the owner can afford it!

Walk this way

bluearrows.jpg

NOTE:

This was an easy shot. The couple probably thought i was reviewing my pictures in the LCD
as the camera was pointed down and i was looking in deep thought and concentration. Of
course i was prefocussing and waiting for the right moment to click the shutter!

Delivery Lady

NOTE:

What a find! Just makes me wonder, where is she going in this back alley and what's in those
boxes? She was so cool as i took her picture too. A hint of the Mona Lisa smile as if saying I
know something and i'm not telling you!

Walk-Cycle

NOTE:
Probably i'm too close to the two subjects, but it's one of those instances where I just have to compose very fast and shoot or else the moment will be gone.
The cyclist would have been out of the frame in this case. Hmmm... also just noticed that CTV camera in the background, focussed on the door. I wonder
what shop that is? Must go find out the next time i'm there.
