Ah so the hot potato is in town. :)

Anyone knows how much its retailing for in HK? The price they are really selling at. I know the RRP is 7490 hkd, which is not far from the $1388 at CP.

swee... thinking of getting a red 1 to compliment my red g1... :)

Just called MS Color.

Black out of stock. Only the silver ones remain.

I asked about the red one and was told the agent will not bring it in. No idea why.

Twins lens kit, as stated elsewhere, is S$1,530.

Does the GF1 accepts 3rd party battery?

You cannot use 3rd party batteries. It'll power ON and then OFF.

Think i just got the last black set

Cathay has the black and silver.

S$1,599 for twin lens set.

funny that no one here is willing to tell how much they got theirs, so i called up MS Color to ask myself:

GF1 + 14-45: $1130
GF1 + 20: $1330
GF1 + both lens: $1530

LOL... the last time I quoted my G1 price (from MS Color) in forum here... got scolding. :bsmilie:

I also dunno why. But thanks for the info.

Have the shops selling other panny bodies alone? Or still bundled with the kit lenses?

Bought it with the 14-45mm lens + 45-200mm yesterday. Tried a Leica M 24mm f3.5 lens on it - very cool, looks like a scaled down version of a Leica M. This camera is bringing back the fun in photography.

Strange...i thot the objective of the forum is to share information so we know what's the best deal and not get ripped off unnecessarily.

Just got my set at MS Colour.

I was blown away with the small compression of the video clips (AVCHD), the resolution of the screen, and the FAST focusing of the zoom lens.

These are all comparison with the E-P1.

But in terms of ISO, I think Oly still wins.... that's all.

If you are keen on buying only the body.. we can pair up. I want the 20mm. :)

Agent as in MS Color not bringing in? Red is listed on S'pore Panasonic website. There's also a full page ad in today's ST with red GF-1. If I get one, I want a red one :p

black is out of stock at cathay, only silver - no red ones are coming in, if what they told me is correct. In the US, its only available in black.

Hi Alan,

If you are thinking of vast selection of lenses, then m4/3 may not meet your/your daughter's needs for the time being.

I am not sure what pictures your daughters are intending to shoot. For me, 2 lenses are good enough for me for now. 14-45mm for outdoor and 20mm for indoor.

As I use the camera for family and kids pictures, I need the autofocus to be fast, hence choose GF1.

For the moment, m4/3 only have like 3-4 lenses from Olympus/Panasonic and is definitely expanding, however the current lenses are more than enough for normal day-to-day shoot.

Panasonic at present has 14-45mm, 45-200mm, 14-140mm (video), 7-14mm, 20mm/f1.7 and upcoming 45mm MACRO.

EP-1 has the advantage of sensor shift stabilisation, so you can mount any lens and it is stabilised, even with adaptor and you can use all the 4/3 lenses. Only thing is AF is not as fast and more for still objects IMO.

Your decision...
The M4/3 is small and light for my daughter to carry around during her travelling.
Understand Lumix GF1 come with kit lens. They do not sell body alone.
Therefore I decided on having the pancake lens (20mm f/1.7).
The additional lenses should be 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 and later stage 40-150mm f/2.8.
Anyway, thanks for your comment.

Just imagine a red ferarri with black sport rims/tyres should look contrast nicely.

The only thing is GF1's red is kinda maroon instead of the glossy shiny chilli red of Ferrari.
