To prevent such frustration...

(1) If you know you want that model, go negotiate a price with the shop, put down a deposit, and wait for the stocks to arrive. Don't expect red dot retailers to stock like large foreign retailers.

(2) If you need to touch first, talk to someone in the community or come to our kopi sessions. This is where you can get your hands on the gear you are interested in, touch touch, play play, ask ask... most likely you will get your answer.

Either way, it is more efficient than the "wait for stocks" method. More and more people are either getting because of "kam cheng" (relationship) or money-deposit pre orders. If you are not good friends with the shop and neither want to put in a deposit, most likely you will end up with Mr Tan (Tan Ku Ku aka wait-long-long).

Yes, but don't know when the zoom lens will be available. Bought mine in BnS rather than waiting.

I bought my white one (w pancake lens) from the Hongkong Airport thru a friend at panny recomended retail price of HKD $7490 (about SGD $1380). Bought it on 9 Oct and it was already sold out in most retail shops... my friend had a really hard time finding it.

I didn't want to get the local sets that comes only in black and silver, the white one is really nice :thumbsup:

I think the best chance of finding one is still in Hongkong. Be aware that many white versions sold online are from japan and comes with japanese menu only, the ones sold on HK has english menu.

I also keen to buy a white one, does anyone know whether China has it as I'm now travelling in Beijing.

Look for Lao Huo (the boss) and ask him if he is able to get one for you.
He has the best price I know in the entire Beijing. And he is honest. (That is critical).
Tell him a friend from Singapore who used to live in Beijing sent you.
You might get some extras thrown in. He does that for friends.
