swee... thinking of getting a red 1 to compliment my red g1... :)

Hi sir, is it better to get the oly kit 14-42 or the panasonic kit 14-45?
in case we get the 20mm kit set, as the oly 14-42 seem to be sold cheaper than the panny 14-45mm 2nd hand

Well done bro ! show me your toy

funny that no one here is willing to tell how much they got theirs, so i called up MS Color to ask myself:

GF1 + 14-45: $1130
GF1 + 20: $1330
GF1 + both lens: $1530

I have seen from many reviews that Panny 14-45 AF faster than 14-42.

After some usage, what I can say is GF1 really focus very fast, esp so with its 14-45 lens. It's almost as fast as my previous A300 or even close to A700.

Also, it has optical stabiliser. So with GF1, I think better to go with 14-45.

yesterday i was asking the same question to one of the sales when purchasing ZD 9-18mm there.
For now, only bundle with the body.
But she said will be sold seperately by end of the month, hope it's true :)

Is the adaptor for Micro 4/3 to normal 4/3 available now ?

OK, enough of saliva...now for some test shots taken using GF1.

All direct JPEG from camera, only resize.

Whole frame at ISO800, 20mm lens at F2.8

Hi friends,
I am thinking of getting the Lumix GF1 for my daughter but at the same time I am also thinking of Olympus Pen.
Technically, I cannot decide which is better for Micro FourThirds camera. I am not too concern about price.
What is important is the supporting lenses. Who provide better lenses .... Panasonic or Olympus?
Who provide more choice of lenses?
It seems like both Panasonic and Olympus provide information on two lenses only.
That is rather limited!
Can anyone provide more information on the lenses and its range if any.
Thanks.

Hi Alan,

If you are thinking of vast selection of lenses, then m4/3 may not meet your/your daughter's needs for the time being.

I am not sure what pictures your daughters are intending to shoot. For me, 2 lenses are good enough for me for now. 14-45mm for outdoor and 20mm for indoor.

As I use the camera for family and kids pictures, I need the autofocus to be fast, hence choose GF1.

For the moment, m4/3 only have like 3-4 lenses from Olympus/Panasonic and is definitely expanding, however the current lenses are more than enough for normal day-to-day shoot.

Panasonic at present has 14-45mm, 45-200mm, 14-140mm (video), 7-14mm, 20mm/f1.7 and upcoming 45mm MACRO.

EP-1 has the advantage of sensor shift stabilisation, so you can mount any lens and it is stabilised, even with adaptor and you can use all the 4/3 lenses. Only thing is AF is not as fast and more for still objects IMO.

Your decision...

I tried autofocus in my room last night with only 2 downlights and it can still lock on object as fast as normal lighting.

In fact, as I mentioned before, the AF is almost as fast as my previous Alpha300 (whether using OVF or liveview) and can almost match the AF of Alpha700 (famous for fast and accurate AF).
