Hi G3 users!
I'm a newbie so pardon my ignorance. I'm comtemplating in buying one but I'm comparing between the V3. Other than features, resolution and size, what about their optical quality? Are they using the same kind of lens? I headed down to Cathay and saw a G3 on display and it certainly look bulky. Any comments are much appreciated and thanks.

Based on your statement on it's bulky design, I can't help but to agree it isn't as svelte or attractive compared to G2 or even S45.
But being a 2 week owner of G3, i thought it's flaw of the design and the dumb optical viewfinder fault didn't really affected me at all.
They are using the same lens yes, but don't doubt it's ability :)

I guess most owner of G3 have no complaints, like myself..

So we have a decade of G3 users here (enough to form a clique), shall we have an outing sometime soon? :)

Actually bought mine before going on my US trip. Hee hee. Now need to get a lens adaptor. A check with the lensmate website shows that they haven't even begun production yet. http://www.lensmateonline.com

AP has some oem adaptors made in Japan. Comes with 52-58mm ring. Anyone tried it yet? Any comments? How abt the original Canon ones?

V3 has most of the automated functions like G3 and the same fast processor. V3 is only a point and shoot DC where as G3 give you more manual control so that explain the bulky size. You can attach filter and TC and WC to G3 where as you attach V3 to your neck like the advertisement of V2. I think the lens is diff, G3 start from F2.0 where as V3 start from F2.8. So if you want point&shoot, small and compact, it must be V3.

not a must .. depending on what u want to shoot lor .. if u need to zoom far far .. then u might need a tc lor .. and if u like to take pics with a wide view .. then wc is the one to go for it ..

huh ? whaddya mean by that ?

just get the OEM first lor... just to protect ur lens from scratches or damages... becos of the stupid original "lens cover" which comes in the package... very loose...

The OEM lens adapter (52mm) can add-on HOYA filters (52mm).:D

Just picked up the TC and Canon adaptor too - should have read a little closer, as its only 1.75x, not 2x ... need to zoom to at least 5x equivalent to get rid of vignetting ... but the lens quality is v.good and does not 'protrude' as much as it could have

Linkster: I got mine on 24 Dec too ;)

Also got the Canon adaptor and TC when I bought the camera.

Does the 3rd party WC fit into the Canon adaptor? I assume so rite?

Roughly how much will the 3rd party WC cost?

This buy buy buy virus is burning a big hole in my pocket!!!
