Tested this lens with the nokton 25/0.95 yesterday courtesy of an old mate, it's a very good lens, with nice bokeh and sharpness, weight and fast AF on the EP3 too. Friend tried on his EP2, it's slightly slower AF.
Agree it's good for portraits. There's slight noise but not much of a bother.
Though given a choice, my nokton stays + 20mm if i needed AF. the nokton has 0.17m close distance focusing which can be real useful.
But if given only 1 choice among this 3 lens, i will go with this PL 25/1.4 for the AF convenience. It's tempting...

I think i saw it in Alan Photo @SLS yesterday while hooting lens from thereoh? i called them yesterday they say no stock, need to place deposit to book.
Maybe i'm not one of their regulars so they will not sell me.

Edit: I found a resolution test on an Australian website. You can see that the Leica is far sharper than the Panny on JPEGs (you compare the red and blue lines between the 2 graphs. Ignore the RAW)
Here is the Leica 1.4
Here is the Panasonic 1.7
Yes agreed. Its hard to judge sharpness and colour AND bokeh from camera lcd screens. At the minimum, u should have it on a colour calibrated computer screen. Thanks for posting the info. Good to know!
In any case i alrdy hv the lens. I am very pleased with the results. I posted some photos in this thread. I love the colour, the sharpness n the bokeh effect.
yup manage to hoot the panny 20mm fr APthanks for the info! will call them to check. Will want to try to pick up tomorrow.
Hope you had a good lens catch yesterday.![]()
Yes I cant think, you can and you win, please go ahead and buy and I WILL STOP GIVING MY COMMENTS HERE ANYMORE since no one appreciates.
Bye all pixel peepers!
Oly5050, like to hear you comment on the below comparison since u have the equipment. Thanks in advance.
EP3+25mm 1.4 vs E5+50mm (i assume this is Zuiko 50mm f2)
which one is better..giving the sensor is almost the same. let say, at f4.
