[ Gadget ] - leica /pana 25mm 1.4

Considering that the Four Third version Leica D Summilux 25mm f/1.4 costs some $1.2k, the m43 DG Summilux is quite a good buy at $800+. Quibbling over a difference of a few dollars quoted by different dealers is just not worth it compared to the joy of owning and using such a nice lens. :)
My first impression is that this lens is optically better than even its older (and much, much bigger) sibling wide opened besides being faster and quieter to focus.

I agree with you but if can save is better :p

really feel like getting this lens, but if i buy this lens, my 20mm will definitely be relegated to the dry cabinet.

If u really like it, sell your 20mm away and use the money to fund the 25mm.

it's a pancake, although it's easy to sell 20mm still.

John u mean? A lot of ppl inside den I just browse around n walk off. Nv asked.
Got 1 "A" shop at level 2 near challenger. When I walk in he smile n when I asked abt the Len, face turn black n say no stock yet.
Asked how much say dunno & gave me a TL face. Got bad experience when I bought my silver ep2 with them b4. Box stated black but they paste sticker and wrote silver. My kit lens oso different serial as the warranty card.

Thanks for the update bro, maybe I will checkout a bit.
'A' shop can skip since they are so 'friendly' and 'honest'.
Presently I'm stuck between getting my 7-14 or ...
Not an easy choice since I save up thru the old way, with every penny saved and not earn 4mil a year holding a key. :p

Actually can relegate the 20mm to the 'For Sale' section to recoup back part of the cost of this lens. ;)

Actually i think the 20 mm may b more versatile than the 25 mm. The 25 is more portrait n the 20 mm is like between portrait n landscape. In confined spaces, if u r taking small group shots, the 25 mm is too tight.

No need for the 20mm. Get the 12mm instead. Quiet and fast and wide angle enough for landscape. But don't look at the optional metallic lens cap at all cost if you have not decided to get the 12mm lens yet. One look at the stunningly beautiful lens cap and you will decide to buy the lens just to go with the lens cap. ;)

I already owned the oly 17mm so really can't decide of I shd get the leica 25mm or oly 12mm. Haizzz headache.

Maybe u can go down and ask if there sample set to try on the spot or rent it.
I rent the 12mm before @$28/day. Collect a day b4 after 4pm & return a day after b4 1pm.

My 25mm also very "noisy" LOL

did you get the 25mm ? Congrat and enjoy the low lighting shoting and sweet bokeh at f1.4.
I would advise you to print out a few photos, you will be amazed by by Summilux result.

this thread is very poisonous

25mm for landscape is it ok?

do u mean the sexy hood that comes as option with the 12mm?

i think the rectangular lens hood doesn't look nice, but the optional lens cap does look stunning!
