FurryPhotos - Pet Portraiture/Pictures

Glad you liked them :) Will try to keep shooting.

Some more pics taken at Mutts and Mittens on Sunday. They are open to the public again for now so if you are looking for a dog to adopt feel free to drop by.

Some residents didn't really welcome more visitors and prefered to sleep though it all.

Teh (like teh peng or teh tarik) is one of the long time residents being sponsored by Kuan Ming Shan. Here she is enjoying the wide open space of the dog run.

Cookie another long term resident pausing for a moment to look at the weird guy with the long white lens.

Thanks for viewing :)

Dropped by the SPCA again today and took a few snaps. Using a Nikon S5 this time. Its easier to handle a compact cam in the tight confines...

Silver - Looking eager to get out and play

Billy - More interested in the people walking around outside.

Jordie - you rarely see a rough collie in there. Sad to see such a beautiful dog left there. He does look a little weird cause his hair got shaved. Still very friendly

Denver - he has the most heart melting gaze ever...

Thanks for viewing and do drop by the SPCA if you want to adopt a dog...

beautiful dogs..thanks for sharing..hope your pics will inspire others to try and make a difference for these animals. :)

Its natural colourations :) Like how some people get freckles on thier faces :D

A few more pics today taken last week ;p Harassed the new-comer again. 17-40 on a 350D ISO 800 for both. The b/w pic was cropped and has some noise ADDED for the post work. I find a clean b/w image weird for some reason...

All tired form playing here she is all spread over the bed :D

Young cats are always naturally curious. As you can tell this one is VERY curious...

I can't believe that rough collie got put at the SPCA! sigh.

I like the shots of the dogs at the dogrun.

I presume you were using a telephoto lens?

Question, is it ever possible to snap the dogs from a distance with normal kit lens?

Yea most of my run shots are done with the 70-200. It is possible to shoot long distance in the run at 55mm but you wont get the same amount of subject isolation. To get bokeh with the kit you need to get pretty close to them...

hmm was afraid that would be the case.

Thanks for the 411. :)

oh gosh! no no no.

I'm no web admin and i certainly didn't mean that. :embrass:

I meant more like this. Haha.

Oh haha thought you meant "length required" for your lens hehe

Was helping a friend take some pics for dogs that she is re-homing. They are a mother/son combo. Both have wonderful personalities although the son is a little more timid.

Santa(Rina) - The benevolent and manja mom.

Antonio - The slightly timid son.

If you know of anyone that might be keen to adopt drop me a PM or email at raptor84[at]gmail.com

i got questions...i going to my friend's pet shop taking pictures of animals there... is it ok to flash directly at the animals or don't use flash at all? it's a indoor pet shop...i dun haf external flash or difusser yet...only built in flash...thanks :)

Then i'd recommend sticking to ISO available light shots. Especially indoors when the animals pupils are open so wide if you flash direct not only will the picture look flat but you will most likely get that green eye effect as well. If the animals are old enough(and vaccinated againt the common diseases) and there is some space you could bring them outside to take pics instead.

I also prefer to use whatever lights available. Animals' eyes can be sensitive to the flash. Even if use flash, preferably not to use it direct but bounced?
