Fujifilm X-E2

I only got the Kit lens. The 23mm f/1.4 and 35mm f/1.4 are courtesy test runs from my friend whom I returned them to just moments ago. They are great lenses. Worth booking a slot in my wish list for 2014, especially the 23mm f/1.4. The blend of character, sharpness and bokeh is truly splendid.
This Kit lens is excellent and provide more option when you compose. Good choice. Happy shooting. .

it does not really extend the DR of the sensor. Basically if you shoot raw, I think it is better to set it to DR100 and set the exposure yourself.

mines always on 100.

By the way, did I mentioned that after molesting the X-E2 for more than an hour at Fujifilm showroom (sorry for the uncle who has been waiting behind me all the time to test out the camera as well... lol), i finally got myself the X-E2! with the kit lens option as well. Have not really been shooting a lot, will post some pictures up after i manage to snap something decent. And the 23mm is really poisoning... tested in the showroom too. that will be on my wishlist + the 10-22mm... argh... someone please buy all my gears away to fund me... will post my hands-on experience later so that for those who are still thinking can actually have a better idea whether this is a camera for you.

by the way, i got the leather case and I'm not planning to use it, anyone want the case i can let go to you cheap cheap...

In case you guys looking for a Fuji XE2 screen protector, whose size is quite different and difficult to find ..
http://www.doml.com.sg/MFOP-FujiFilmXE2

You can get free Singapore Post delivery. But not cheap at $24.50. But Martin Fields protectors are very established and very good. Can't yet find a glass protector the correct size though.

Good to see more people joining Fuji camp!

I customized the protector at funan, accessories shop, used for Handphone, Clear and Anti-finger print about this price. Now cannot see finger printed on the screen.

That's very expensive.. The shop actually trim a larger protector for me that cost $10, not perfect but usable.

Having use the XE2 for a couple of hours, just feels right having the X100 for 2 years. Will be using them both. Bye to my m4/3.

Tested my X-E2 for awhile, session cut short due to rain... zzz
Anyway, here are some of the pictures taken. overall impress with what the sensor can do. for example this picture is actually straight out of camera jpeg, and in Lightroom i found out that i am able to recover so much detail from the highlight and shadow part... anyway, baked it a little with the monochrome preset in Lightroom.

Panorama is great too, although the exposure will not change throughout, maybe due to limitation of image processor? or maybe a firmware release can add in this feature? Anyway, again there's a lot room to play with in post processing to recover some highlight and shadow details...

Shot RAW and try out the RAW file capability, and again, there's a whole lot of room available for me to play with... sadly my Lightroom does not have preset for lens correction on Fujifilm yet. zzz

for over a few hours of testing, here are some of my thoughts:
1. No tilted screen - it would have been perfect if there's a articulate screen on it to provide more options on creativity.
2. No built in ND filter - with the base ISO at only 200 (i know there's an expansion to lower ISO, but I'm talking about the general usage region) it is a little too high for broad daylight. Hence, if there's a built in ND filter it would have been very nice.
3. Base ISO 100 - I would prefer the base ISO to be 100, and expandable to ISO 50... somehow I often will use ISO100
4. Not enough customizable button - simply not enough! well this is just my personal problem. would glad to see myself being able to customize what to display in "drive" and "Q" button as well... then it would be a dream camera to use.
5. Weather seal - not a must, but if it has some minimal form of weather seal, i would be glad to take it for a shot in the drizzle.
6. Limited wifi functionality - new feature, expect it to improve over time. hope it will feature remote shooting, like what Canon is doing now.
7. Grip can be better - you really need to consider the optional hand grip if you want to shoot for long time or want a stable hold of the camera, especially if you are attaching big guns like 55-200mm.

To look at it, actually nothing major, probably is just that I'm used to certain things from my past camera (EOS 50D and G1X). Will try to develop myself to adapt and explore more possibility of this new camera that I owned.

The bright side? The EVF is so good that I don't even miss my OVF for now. I don't do a lot of sports or tracking, so it is ok. Overall lighter and smaller package, speedy enough, AF is good, lens is great, although the zoom ring is a little too tight. the exposure compensation dial is a little too stiff. need to get use to the small form factor as I need to take my eyes off the EVF quite often in order to locate the buttons and get to know what the hell i'm doing and pressing.
Cheers!

Common sense ba... most mirrorless weakness is short battery life

I just drop Nikon and joined Mirrorless system. Din expect it to be so much lower than Nikon's. :) Just not used to it, bro.

EVF, LCD all sucks battery life... in DSLR... nothing much other than during picture capture. The battery life actually is ok, if consider together with other mirrorless / those entry camera that rely a lot on LCD display. So remember to bring a spare battery with you wherever you go ;)

Third party is dirt cheap, bought to use in in case my two original went flat. So far I have not use my third battery yet.

Just got my Martin Fields protector for XE2. Fit is perfect, down to the rounded corners. Very clear, smooth Packaging says: Multi coated with Oleophobic formula. Crystal clear clearer than window glass, less finger prints and smudges, high scratch resistance, easy to apply, no liquid installation.

I got 2 additional batteries for standby. When it low batt , u only able to shoot less than 10 shots.

That's something I dislike about the X-E1/2. You have very little warning for a flat battery. Got to get used to it and change the battery when it turns one bar.

Want to ask, fuji mentioned got "inteligent flash" function, but how to activate it? I only seems to find the flash output option available, which are the standard force flash, slow sync, rear curtain?

Its by default intelligent, no need to activate.
