Tested my X-E2 for awhile, session cut short due to rain... zzz
Anyway, here are some of the pictures taken. overall impress with what the sensor can do. for example this picture is actually straight out of camera jpeg, and in Lightroom i found out that i am able to recover so much detail from the highlight and shadow part... anyway, baked it a little with the monochrome preset in Lightroom.
Panorama is great too, although the exposure will not change throughout, maybe due to limitation of image processor? or maybe a firmware release can add in this feature? Anyway, again there's a lot room to play with in post processing to recover some highlight and shadow details...
Shot RAW and try out the RAW file capability, and again, there's a whole lot of room available for me to play with... sadly my Lightroom does not have preset for lens correction on Fujifilm yet. zzz
for over a few hours of testing, here are some of my thoughts:
1. No tilted screen - it would have been perfect if there's a articulate screen on it to provide more options on creativity.
2. No built in ND filter - with the base ISO at only 200 (i know there's an expansion to lower ISO, but I'm talking about the general usage region) it is a little too high for broad daylight. Hence, if there's a built in ND filter it would have been very nice.
3. Base ISO 100 - I would prefer the base ISO to be 100, and expandable to ISO 50... somehow I often will use ISO100
4. Not enough customizable button - simply not enough! well this is just my personal problem. would glad to see myself being able to customize what to display in "drive" and "Q" button as well... then it would be a dream camera to use.
5. Weather seal - not a must, but if it has some minimal form of weather seal, i would be glad to take it for a shot in the drizzle.
6. Limited wifi functionality - new feature, expect it to improve over time. hope it will feature remote shooting, like what Canon is doing now.
7. Grip can be better - you really need to consider the optional hand grip if you want to shoot for long time or want a stable hold of the camera, especially if you are attaching big guns like 55-200mm.
To look at it, actually nothing major, probably is just that I'm used to certain things from my past camera (EOS 50D and G1X). Will try to develop myself to adapt and explore more possibility of this new camera that I owned.
The bright side? The EVF is so good that I don't even miss my OVF for now. I don't do a lot of sports or tracking, so it is ok. Overall lighter and smaller package, speedy enough, AF is good, lens is great, although the zoom ring is a little too tight. the exposure compensation dial is a little too stiff. need to get use to the small form factor as I need to take my eyes off the EVF quite often in order to locate the buttons and get to know what the hell i'm doing and pressing.
Cheers!
