what does the macro mode on the X-E1 actually do? does it do anything at all? doesn't really make sense to me, considering the X-E1 is an ILC, and the macro capabilities are determined by the lens? i didnt notice much (or any) difference when i turned it on

When u turned on the macro mode..
It allows you to focus closer and more easily..

Closer? Really? Didn't notice that. Must try again

Of course like u said the minimum focussing distance is dependent on the lens..
What I experience is sometimes certain objects can't be focused on even when it is further than the minimum focussing distance.. When u turn on macro then it can focus..

Sometimes it can focus on objects nearer than the minimum focussing distance..

On the topic of Macro, what would be a good macro setup using other brands of lens as the 60mm only does a 0.5 magnification. Looking at something that does a 1 to 1.

Is Fujifilm x-E1 available now in Singapore?

And how much it is?

Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 SP Di macro seems quite popular.

You do not need the RR-80 for the remote shutter to work. Just plug in Canon Rebel Series remote shutter and it works like a charm. I am currently using Phottix remote shutter for the Canon Rebel, cost $12 at most store. I had used Chromage remote shutter (Canon Rebel Series as well) and it works perfectly too.

Just got myself a Phottix wired remote for Canon for like $15 on ebay. works like a charm, thanks for the tip

I also got the XF 35mm f1.4. Love the lens. But focusing makes a bit of noise - unlike the 18-55mm which is pretty silent - guess this is normal, coz it doesn't have the "LM"?

pretty silent for me..

you should hear the 60mm.

both my 35mm and 60mm are noisy too when focusing. service centre tech said it's normal. come to think of it, even the fixed lens on my old Fujifilm GA645 film cam is similarly noisy too, so i guess they have not fixed that issue yet. hopefully the new lenses coming onstream are better.

I am looking forward for the X-E2. waiting .when its coming.?

Go gariz. U could never go wrong.

The metal plate underneath came off after few months of use. My advice is not screw the tripod plate too tight on the gariz and take it out when not use. It still can be use after the metal came off but not as nice though.

Oh. QC problem maybe. I used for about more than a year without issues.
