There's JnK also, but they seemed to have stopped making X-E1 cases.

Woo hoo just joined the XE-1 bandwagon. Picked up a nice used piece yesterday with a 35mm f1.4. Main camera is a Nikon D800 but I can already tell I am going to have lots of fun with this baby. Sold my X100 months ago to spring for the X100S but I am glad I waited and got the XE-1 instead.

I got a used set. Low usage and at a good deal too. I am happy for it as a small CE (carry everywhere) camera to my DSLR kit.

Can anyone verify that 18-55mm kit lens AF is slower than 35mm prime? Thought i read it somewhere that 18-55mm focuses faster.
Find it pretty slow and not as snappy as 35mm prime, under good or dim lighting condition.

My current set-up:
X-E1 - FW2.0
35mm - FW3.0
18-55mm - FW3.1 (can't find FW3.0 anymore)

18-55mm is a lot faster than 35mm even when firmware has not been updated. You may want to search YouTube for focus speed between the two lens.

This is consistent with my experience too - the 18-55 is faster n locks more decisively in my experience.

Have checked and compared the AF of my kit lens with those posted on youtube and a display set at shop, and concluded that AF of my copy (FW3.10) is pretty much the same as theirs.
Still, i find my 35mm prime is snappier, the AF's green box locks slightly faster. On the count of fast 1234, 35mm would lock on count of 2, whereas 18-55mm would lock on the count between 2-3, under the same lighting condition & objects.

Having said that, 35mm does hunt a little more compare to 18-55mm

just checking with the users here... are there 3rd party flash options for XE-1? apart from the EF-20 and EF-X20, what i have found on ebay is those china-made 1-pin manual flash which is too troublesome for me personally to use. :embrass:

i've been using both Canon (580EX2) and Nikon (SB900/800) flashes on my XE-1 and Xpro1. no ETTL/TTL, just full manual. I suppose you're asking abt TTL enabled flashes?

yes! i read that EF-20 is a rebadged sunpack flash. but i can't find any of such flash on ebay.
