not sure which, but there were only 2 pictures.

I think you blown them up quite a lot so it still looks acceptable. To me its acceptable as long as the noise isn't on your subject.

Anyway I guess its the same for all prosumers, can't rely on their ISO speeds, but in daylight it should be a great camera.

You mentioned that you felt the cam was only good for landscapes, I don't think so. I mean, if you wanted to do landscapes you won't use a Long Zoom camera. Ever tried taking candids and sports?

I tried candids, still ok... but if events like catwalks and sports...totally can forget abt prosumer. Shutter not fast enough to capture(unless bright outdoor lighting), Flash range short and flash not powerful enough too. I have chatted w a few prosumer owners of diff models who have experienced these problems.

Catwalks a little difficult, but they will pose for you won't they? That 1/4 second should be enough for you isn't it?

As for flash, I try not to rely on it.

The only thing I wish these things could do is the background blur effect. Bokeh, so they call it.

On catwalks, u can try but I doubt its as easy as u say w S8000. Bokeh wise, I tried my fren's G9..no prob achieving tt but can nv get it on S8000

Are you serious about the G9? I checked up the stats and their sample shots on dpreview, the bokeh seems non-existant, or only about as good as my FZ18 only. Based on the stats, your S8000 should do better, far superior aperture. The only reason might be that the ISO on G9 can push much higher...

Hi, JBK..tot u using DSLR now or u still using S8100? Any of u headed down to SIN today? all the pushing to shoot the girls n cars...worse, my cam(S8000) suffered difficulty focusing and zoomin in/out after taking too many shots....waiting for the flash to recharge was also a prob :embrass:

hi ken..

me yet to get my DSLR yet cos been busy at work... yet to venture into the research of my selected models.. so i will just make do with whatever cam i have now.. be it my s8100fd or canon...

We lead such a different life.. you shooting glamorous, mega-watt mollers with sport cars..

Me solitarily at Lower Pierce, 4am in the morning shoot pavilion. :what:

wow this is a superb shot! can give me some pointers to have a shot like this? ie settings?

Thanks. Not IR, at 4am not enough light for IR anyway. This is actually a composite of 3 different exposures into a HDR pic.

I happened to have my wide angle lens with me so I popped by the place for a couple of shots before heading home.

you have a wide angle lens? for 8100? i tot it come with wide angle lens? sorry ar .. noob question..;p

does this count? my first attempt at moving objects. so this is called bokeh? wad abt reverse?is there a term for the reverse effect?

Sorry, my bad. I wasn't using my S8000 for this shot.. :kok: I was using my Canon..

I will post some with S8000 at a later time.

think this is panning...more for fast moving objects, bokehs r for portraits...e common thing btw them is the blurred background

Well I guess bokeh are for anything really, depends on how creative you are.

Anyway, the challenge comes in a low light situation. (Refering to the sports car shot). Otherwise I like to challenge myself by taking shots of cars at least 100m away (with teleconverter) and still have their number plates readable. =X

hmm...this pics was taken on a bright sunny day... as for the low light situation... i seriously NOT up to that standard yet lol i was abt 100m away but i still could clearly read the number plate without a teleconverter? i dont think we have that for our cam.. wad is yr lens size for yr lumix?

lol no of course not, I prefer shooting in daylight anyday. =) But its really fun to do cool stuff. Next thing I want to do is probably like 50 headshots from 150 metres or something. =X

My lens filter is 46mm, but we mount our TCONs on the body instead of the lens. Here take a look. Also includes my DIY items =)

To be honest, I don't think it is achievable. But I'd like to try sometime ;)
The longest exposure our S8000 can go is 4 sec. Can try to open up the aperture to a certain extend. All in all I wouldn't want to up the ISO though.

When are you going there? I will bring my S8000 to try it out too.
