Digital camera "FinePix X100" Notice of resuming shipments
March 28, 2011
FUJIFILM Corporation
March 11, 2011 (Friday) by the Tohoku region Pacific Ocean earthquake that occurred "FinePix X100" production plant (Yamato Town, Kurokawa-gun Miyagi) but have always suffered from the earthquake to cease operations for one o'clock Orimashi This time the production line can be recovered or will contact you, so now more likely to be sold in early April.
We will notify us so that we ship to customers starting in Itadai reservation.
To our customers, we keep pace with production from first launched, it will be delivered very late, I apologize.

I was hoping the same thing

Actually, I had my reservations about the NEX-5 at the start, but since I got my hands on one fairly cheap, I gave it a shot. The v3 firmware helped in that I could map the scroll wheel button at the back to 3 menus accessible by hitting left or right after activating it - I have mine mapped to ISO, WB and Focus mode, with the secondary soft button at the bottom mapped to metering mode. The scroll wheel controls aperture and shutter speed by toggling the down button on the wheel itself, or either aperture/shutter in aperture/shutter priority mode.

Not as elegant as the X100, but hey, I can't get my hands on the X100, so this will do for now. Tempted to pick up an 18-55 lens since I only have the 16/2.8 for now

The 18-55mm is sharper than the 16mm in my past experience; the 16mm is the worst lens I ever had on the NEX body.

The last few times I played with the X100 (last being this afternoon), I found the menu fiddly. The NEX's menu is a little troublesome to negotiate due to the lack of buttons but it's not as fiddly as the X100's. So adapting to a camera takes a little time. Neither can beat the simple and no-brainer menu operation of the Leica X1.

I'll get used to the X100's menu, just takes a couple of days :)

I found the 16/2.8 pancake a little soft, not quite pleased with it as the pics look a little soft. Waiting to get my hands on an 18-55 soon!

fuji's GUI has never been that user friendly... but it's worth the images that it can take ;)

The 18-55mm is one of the worst kit lenses that money can buy. Sharp in the centre only and soft at the edges with loads of chromatic aberrations at the edges. Both the 16-55mm and 16mm CMI and kills the NEX system for me. Of the 3 E lenses available, the 18-200mm is reputedly the sharpest, but much too big for a compact system camera like the NEX. The NEX really shines when you use good quality manual lenses like the Voigtlander lenses on it though... or else use the Sony A-mount lenses (the 50mm f/1.8 is cheap and small enough for this purpose).

never knew why sony made such crappy lens for the NEX system to launch a new system with.

I mean this is a NEW launch and how difficult is it to make a decent kit zoom and 16mm f2.8. Totally put off a lot of people.

Sorry for the OT, but center sharpness on the pancake seems pretty okay. Softness around the edges is a bit noticeable but gets sharper stopped to f5.6, which is normal for lenses like these.

I would pretty much expect the X100 to be fairly soft around the edges with decent center sharpness wide open, and getting better between f4 and f8 given the wide angle and speed of the lens

and the sony bashing continues in here eh? honestly i have no idea why you're bashing sony all over the place when 1) you're not even a sony user and 2) why are you adding oil to the flames every time someone has something negative to say about sony?

we all gave you advice in the sony sub-forum: if you don't like it, you don't like it. stop whining and complaining all over the place about sony cameras. it's irritating that one can find your comments about sony all over the place, even in this thread when people are discussing about the X100. other members have already decided to get the A580 in Malaysia, while your kept on with your tirade.

first you complained about the A580, now about the NEX. two completely different systems. if you have nothing nice to say about ANY sony equipment, then keep your peace.

if you find your NX10 that great, then stick to it. really. just shut up. i'm not against users of other systems. i'm just sick of whiners like you.

wait. he's not even a NEX user?

Decided to go get a F-mount adapter for Nikon D/G lenses and use it on my NEX until the X100 is available

nope. not even a cybershot i believe. claims he wants to be a sony convert. but when he talks, he makes no head or tail and neither does he seem to have much knowledge about sony stuff.

eh. you guys can have the X100. i'll just wait for the successor model :D

NEX NEX. it can take great pictures. the interface is cute but the navigation's a nightmare. wouldn't trade my DSLR for one ;)

Actually, the navigation or customizability as improved since v2. The v3 allows me to map the lower button to metering, while mapping the scroll wheel button to AF-mode, ISO and WB. At least these frequently used settings are only one layer away, which I can almost live with ;)

And all this while, I need to remain mindful that I bought the NEX for quality point and shoot, and if I really want to have that much manual control over my camera, I should bring out the big guns instead :)

haha i still find it a hassle no matter what version the interface is. and no matter how bulky my DSLR is, it's always with me.

until i can get back my F200EXR from my ex. i miss her.

i mean my F200 not my ex.

Put a decent lens like the ZM Biogon 25mm in front of the NEX and you'll dump the pancake ;-) I can assure you that the X100 is at most on par! Put on a Leica lens, you'll dump the pancake as fast as you can say damn :-)

errr... are you a stalker? sigh... you fanboys really have to rest it... Since when did I complained about the A580? seriously, can you quote me a SINGLE sentence which I actually said something bad about the A580, the camera? you are WAAAY to sensitive. If you looked at that A580 thread (which somehow got on your fanboy nerves), there are people who agreed with me that Sony Singapore should have launched A580 and Sony Singapore do read Clubsnap. Besides, some of the replies on the thread were actually helpful (unlike others) like pointing out Sony have international warranty on their DLRs bodies which I did not know.

Tomcat wrote like 10x more bad things than me. All I added was two short sentence. Just because I am not a NEX user? I was in the market for a MIL and I did looked closely at NEX but the NEX lens was really bad so I think I am qualified to make that comment/opinon.

Seriously, I did a search and I think the above post is the ONLY time I dissed a sony camera in the past 4 weeks. The ONLY OTHER time I mentioned the word sony is in that A580 thread (which I NEVER EVER dissed the A580). you really have to take it easier. I think next time CS will be like 95 FM.

BTW, I had owned a "sony" camera. I owned the KM7D which most Alpha DSLRs was based on.

Can we go back to the topic of Fuji X100?
Fuji Singapore expects earliest shipments to come out on 3rd week of April. I doubt HN would be able to fulfill their April 10 timeline. We might have to wait a little longer to get our pre-orders.

Okay, a few more X100 shots:

I like the tone of yellow flower , iJeff ! nice ...

I am beginning to think that it is the photographer that makes the photos seem WOW. and not just this good camera.

Goes without saying... it is his/her eyes, fingers and of course still a good camera is needed

errr... are you a stalker? sigh... you fanboys really have to rest it...

not a fanboy. i own a few fuji cameras as well. and casio. and.. and...

and you rest the issue too. you may have owned the KM 7D, but to close things on my end, i have a distaste for people who go around blasting equipment.

don't talk about Tomcat. i respect his reviews because he owns the camera. he did a few takes on the NEX.

you should be asking yourself. if you consider yourself a photographer, you'll know that it's the person behind the camera that counts more.

but as it happens, your beef seems more with sony than the gear sony produces.

if i were to classify you under a category, it would be the same league as the guys who complain about their camera shipments being delayed because of the tsunami.

just my two cents.

For those that are interested, the Fuji X-100 seems to be quite readily available in Malaysia. I just got back from Penang and brought 3 back and if not for a bag already overloaded with food items, I would have brought back half a dozen.
