According to my dealer, the Fuji rep who delivered his quota of X100 to him said that there is not enough units in this shipment to cover all the pre-orders taken by HN during the IT Show. Aside from those allocated to HN, every other dealer was allocated only 2 sets each. I myself got one of the 2 sets from my dealer at the special discounted price which is way, way below the official retail price of $1,699 as I had expected.
Those who have pre-ordered from HN had better rush down to claim their sets if they don't want to wait for the next shipment to collect their sets.![]()
Just got mine - 70 units arrived in Dubai. SGD1.8k per set, 8GB+4GB card, no case, no discount either. Selling like hotcakes around here.
IQ is pretty good, and the controls don't take long to get used to. Firmware is definitely on the slow side, and the fact that LR3/ACR/AP3 does not support the RAF files is somewhat annoying. The macro mode takes some getting used to, and I'm trying to figure the MFD for the macro mode. AF is reasonably fast, though it seems that my NEX5 is AFing faster and more accurately in low-light situations. The NEX5 also has the advantage of the handheld twilight mode and HDR, which I've found to be pretty useful.
Still, the X100 is an interesting breed - forces me to take the time to compose the shot, and the shutter makes practically no sound at all, compared to the shutter on the NEX5 which sounds like a machine gun next to the X100. Not big on the film simulations, and I can't wait for LR3 to support the RAF files so I can do more with this.
Friend of mine did a test against the Leica X1 and swears that the X100 images came out better in a blind test.
Hey,

The original len cap can still be used over the adapter ring even with a filter mounted on it. Luckily, a black rimmed filter does not look out of place on the X100 as a metallic coloured rimmed filter with a 49mm thread is next to impossible to find.are you able to use the original cap with the filter adapter ring? Or do you need to remove the ring as well before you can cap it?
