Fuji X100 - Part 2

ooooooh how much did they charge for the shutter button, lens hood and filter? and why did fuji give you a 2nd memory card and original battery?

1499 is on the high side; the value of the free gifts does not make up for the fact you will be paying higher.....
Even back in Dec, I paid 1430 or thereabouts and got the x100 case and free 16gig card on a normal day.

The me color deal someone posted is much better!

MS Color Deal is still better? even these comes with wide conversion lens? which can cost easily $300

Cathay quoted me 1332 with usual stuff, 16GB class 10 SD card, Leather case, and a screen-protector in-store and 16GB class 4 SD card, original Fuji battery redeemable at Fuji center.

Haha first of all, the only known wide converter that works ok is the old Nikon wide converter - even then you wouldn't want to use it for serious purposes. Sure you can screw on any wide converter but only if you are ok with severe image degradation.

If the wide converter they are giving is so good, and worth $300, why are they giving it away? :) freebies are just that - cheap stuff (cost price wise) to entice you to pay more for the camera.

Wow it gets cheaper and cheaper... You probsbly wouldn't want to use that class 4 card - read and write speed would be slow like molasses. The x100 needs all the help it can get. A Sandisk Extreme 16 gig with 60mb/s speed is only $30, a small price to pay for improved performance from the X100.

went down there yesterday, confirmed. not Fuji WCL =)
and a small dry cabby and a couple of class 4 cards

not worth at all...

hello all,

i have a one question to ask about X100.

I notice that My X100 lens area (not the center glass, the whole lens in physically) feels abit of movement (shakiness) when u touch and shake by your finger purposely.

Is that normal (or) does anyone have the same as mine? Pls help.

Thanks.

Hi,

just tried mine - NO movement at all ... does not sound very good, what you're describing here! I recommend you have it checked by Fuji

cheers

I've tried one wide-converter and it was a disaster. It was wide angle as promised, but the edges were blurry and there was a lot of barrel distortion, making the picture really unusable. Definitely save up and wait for the official converter from Fuji.

Are there any offficial sample pics from the Fuji wide angle adapter?

Anyone used the x100 in demanding conditions? How is performance during prolonged usage in dusty humid areas or high/low tenperatures?

The worst I've ever done was mid-noon on a bright sunny day in SG, which is perhaps at most 33 or 34 degrees C. If you're talking about a place like Dubai Marina with 80% humidity at 45-50 degrees C, really no idea. My Nikon Coolpix S570 performed flawlessly under those conditions, so I'm guessing the X100 should be fine?

Looking to hear from those who have pushed the camera to its limits, and not the typical gear babying.

read that EF-X20 can be triggered as slave flash (remotely) with X100. have someone tried it ?

Any info on the best price/offer for a new x100?

Anyone?

Wanted to ask something else also, if I bought a second-hand x100 from a fellow CSer here with some warranty left, and sometime later I got SAB (but still within the warranty time limit), can I use the warranty to get it fixed (even though it's not under my name)?

If yes, what are the things that I need to claim the warranty?
