Fuji X100 - Part 2

Iirc, when i.e. when using F16 in normal bright sunny day, the image is overexposed? You can try find some video examples on YouTube. :)

I think you could actually just look at the aperture blades while half-pressing the shutter release. A working aperture would close to the correct size immediately. I've not had this problem so I could be far off.

Here's an example of the videos Bryson is talking about.

Fuji X100 Camera Sticky Blade Problem Sticking Exposure | Rocket Cameras

Far Far Away,Maybe I had missed the earlier discussions, I am wondering how do you discover your camera having sticky blade issue. What are the signs?

The above two replies are spot on! Thanks dudes!

I found out that mine have the problem by setting my aperture to different values, i.e. 16 and half press the shuttle button a few times and observe the aperture. The aperture hole should be the same size each time you half press it. Another way is I found some pictures over exposed when it should be ok. Good luck!

Hi Far Far away, wonder when you got ur X100, isit the new batch? As Im planning to get one soon ....just want to "make sure" the new batch really have no sticky blade issue. Thanks :)

Hey there,

Mine is the old batch when demand far outstrip supply. Can be considered the first batch. AFAIK, the sticky aperture affects only the earlier batches. Didn't hear it that often now after one year. Think Fuji rectified the fault in the new batches already.

ic. thanks for the info :)

anyone can share the latest batch numbers now? not sure isit possible to check?

Mine starts with 21 for the serial number. Heard its one of the latest batch.

ic. noted.. so basically 21 onward is the latest. Thanks manz :D

No problem. :)

Anyone using the EF20 flash on the X100? I notice that it's quite a tight fit for the camera?

Is it useful? For me I normally use the camera flash for fill in. Else shoot wide open. Simply love the IQ!

serial 22 should be arriving soon. and 21 will be not so new batch already. hehe..

Depends on how you shoot? I'm using flash often now a days and using the built-in flash drains battery faster too, thus getting the EF20. I could say at least you can bounce and diffuse the light better with it compared to the built-in flash.

Where do you get the info? :)

PS: Anyone has dust specks in their VF? Possible to send it back to Fujifilm for cleaning under warranty? Thanks!

As quoted
Serial no starting with

11 = 2011, quarter 1
12 = 2011, quarter 2
13 = 2011, quarter 3
14 = 2011, quarter 4
21 = 2012, quarter 1
22 = 2012, quarter 2

so on and so forth.. If your x100 reads 21xxx, yours is from new batch naturally. after 31st Mar 2012, yours will belongs to old batch because 22xxx serial number starts its run.

BTW it does not means that the older batch will have sticky blade problem. the problem does not affect every x100.

Hi

Has anyone bought the X100 recently, any price updates?

Thanks!

Is there a way to check the shutter count when buying from a store?

Actually I did go to the shop to buy, and the sales guy brought out the camera, however I've found that that box wasn't sealed properly and I felt like the unit was used (probably a few test shots), and I felt very uncomfortable to buy that camera.

I'm wondering if there's a way to check if the camera really comes from a brand new set. Thanks in advanced.

just went to the PC show today, $1499 and comes with original case, original battery, 2x 16gb SD card (not specified what model), tripod, 3rd party conversion lens, screen protector, small dry cabi (didn't exactly catch what size it is), card reader and a cleaner kit. You think its worth it?

1499 is on the high side; the value of the free gifts does not make up for the fact you will be paying higher.....
Even back in Dec, I paid 1430 or thereabouts and got the x100 case and free 16gig card on a normal day.

The me color deal someone posted is much better!

Bought it 2 days ago at Cathay for 1360 (incl. screen protector, 16gb, black case) + received from Fuji: second 16gb (only class 4) and an additional original battery. Cathay also made good price on shutter button, lens hood, 49mm filter ...
So guess this is a much better deal
